08 EX I4 Coupe new tires!

I posted this in the wheels and tires section, but thought it might be a good post in the 8th gen section as well.

Finally after 65k miles, the OE michelin tires are about done on my 08 ex i4 coupe. I have been looking around for new tires for about a week now. First off, it's super hard to find good cheep tires for this car, I went to about 5 different places and quotes ranged from about 120-150 per tire. Also cause of the size and speed rating, you're not going to find a tire that has a very good tread life warranty, most of them avg around 30-50k. 50K's are rare and expensive.

Any way, I went with the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity, from a local firestone. They had a deal going on though tomorrow where if you buy 3, you get one free. The reviews on tirerack.com are great, and with the deal going on I thought I would give them a shot. The tires were about 150 each, after all was said and done, I walked out of there paying 700, but this included road hazzard insurance, lifetime rotations and life time alignment on the car.

I've only driven them about 30 miles so far, but I can already tell the difference between these and the Michelins, the Bridgetones are a lot better, it's like driving a new car, I have to see how these last, I know they wont last as long as the Michelins, these have a 45k tread warranty, but if I can get a better ride, it might be worth it. It's not like the Michelins were bad, but you can tell right away these Bridgetones perform better. I wish there was a local trak or something where you can test different tires, I would like to have seen how $100 tires compared to $200 tires.

Just my two cents on my new shoes. Buying tires is a pain in the A, but tirerack.com is a great resource for reviews. I perfered to buy local, becuase of the service aspect, local dealers will install tirerack tires, but they won't give you life time rotations, ect.

I'll try to post pics when I get a chance, but they are just tires, nothing unique, like a good set of rims.

let us know how it feels on the freeway.
i'm mainly interested in a quieter ride.
cornering/handling is secondary.

I've called the OEM Michelins a lot of things, but quiet is not one of them.

update

So I was able to get some more driving on these tires today, got up to about 80 on the hwy, they were really smooth and quiet, even with the crappy section of I95 around Richmond. The only thing I heard was the engine and wind. I even put the window down to see if I heard any unusual and didn't.

I tried to do some agressive corning on these, they were fine, didn't really feel much of a difference between the Michelins and these though.

As far as how I got 65k out of the OE Michelin's I didnt do anything crazy, it was probably 90% hwy miles and I rotated them every 10k miles.

I'll give another update next time we get some rain in the area to see how these Bridgestones do, I would like to test them in some snow as well, but not sure what the chances are that we'll get more of that around here.

those tires seem like what i want.
i suspected that the OEM michelins were mainly to blame for the road noise. i prefer a quieter ride even if handling suffers a little.
i'll try to remember to get bridgestone turanza serenity when it's time.

thanks for the report.
