Thumbs up My dealer wants to buy back my car!!!

This is no scam. They did the same thing to my moms 04 TSX and almost gave her what she paid. Why you ask? I have a hand written letter stating that they are low on accords and need to buy 4 asap. My car is 2yrs old in aug and only has 12,800 miles. When my mom did the trad, she bought 06 TL. If everything is legit, I'll do it if they'll agree to pay to reinstall hand controls on the new car. I want a deal on TSX Navi 4cyl. We'll see... And damn i just installed all that audio last year...lol. I want swap the ELS Dolby 5.1 stereo as its just beautiful sounding in my ma's MDX.

most of the time its to get you into the dealer to look at a car and buy something. Did you check out the paperwork on that other car? If the dealer give almost what mother paid for it, they may have put the new car for MSRP or even above MSRP!

When I had my Civic, I received several letters from the dealership stating basically the same thing... low on good used Civics and wanted to buy my car.
If you can get a great deal on the new vehicle, then go for it...

Dealers do this all the time, they constantly sent me letters to buy my previous altima and trade it for a maxima, as well as my moms 07 CRV to buyback. If they are really hurting on stock and going to pay you what you expecting then go for it, most of the time they burn you. And why would you want a 4 cylinder TSX? Its the same exact car you have now

I get letters all the time from the sheister Ganley Honda which is about 5 minutes from my house stating they want to buy my 2000 Prelude back....... besides the fact I sold it a month ago, when I did have the car it had 220,000 miles, had rust on the wheel wells, the headlight covers were completely discolored yellow (classic 1990's Honda trait) and the rear main seal was weaping a little oil...... if they saw my car and checked it to buy back they would have laughed at me if I told them I wanted $3000. Which is what I sold it for.

They get your name from a computer data bank generated the first time you do any business at that dealer. I went to Ganley once for a free oil change they were offering like 5 years ago and I get his crap all the time now. Goes straight to the trash.

These letters are ploys to get you to trade your car in. But you NEVER get a deal. You will ALWAYS loose money on the deal. No matter what you say, you loose. If your Mom goes back to her paperwork and calulates everything I guaranee she lost money too. New cars loose 14% value the second they are driven off the lot - you will NOT get anywhere near an even-up trade in deal.

You never EVER get from a dealer what you will get for a car if you sell it yourself outright.

You have a great car now. No need to trade for it. No need to give another sheister car dealer your money.

Wasn't there a similar thread about this a while back?

I seem to recall the conclusion was that it wouldn't end up being as good as the letter makes it seem.

If they're low in supply, why do you have to upgrade to another car (of their's) to get the deal? Ask if they'll still buy your car outright at the same price, without the sale of another car.

I wouldn't call $27K for an EX-L a deal. And if that's what the employee cost is, then where's the employee discount? Isn't $27K like MSRP?

No wonder the dealer wants to buy your car from you... It's so they can sell you another car at MSRP (if not higher).
