... Has anyone put the TL rear sway bar on a 2006 Accord?

The 06 suspension tweaks have improved handling a bit. My 06 definitely has less body roll than my 03 did. Feels all around even more solid. I'm wondering how the thicker bar might interact with the new suspension calibrations.

Also, any fitment issues?

I installed the 17mm rear sway bar from the TL with no problem at all. My 06 is a V6 6spd coupe. The 4cyl might have a slight interference issue invloving an exhaust bracket based on what I previously read. This forum has a lot of good information regarding the sway bar installation. Based on my limited experience I would guess that the 06 install is no different than the 03--05 install information. BTW, I found it quite worthwhile. My car felt much better. $45 delivered with all bushings and brackets and a 30-45 minute install laying under the car in my drive with a couple of simple hand tools makes it a no brainer to me. I might even try the 20mm bar in the spring from the TL-S. I'll just put the 17mm on my wife's 03 V6 coupe so it won't go to waste.

From what I've read, the install is really easy. If you get get to a place w/ a lift, it only takes 15 minutes plus some WD-40.

On a side note, both the 17 and 20 mm bar fits on all V6's from 1998-2006. The suspension in the rear of the 6th gen and 7th gen are so similar that many parts are interchangeable.

Just a hint to those of you like me who have the 6th gen. I have the 20 mm and I love it.

Yeah, since my car was 4 years old when I put it on, I needed the WD-40 to clean the threads off. It made the swap much faster w/ less cussing and scratched knuckles.

You may also want some greese for the bushings. I used a little grease and I have no noise from the swap.

As stated by YPSIBIRD, the 4 cyl models have an exhaust hanger that interferes with the TL sway bars (17mm or 20mm). You can go with an aftermarket sway bar or just "tweak" the hanger so it does not interfere. You may have to bend it about 1/2 an inch or so...I did this on my car and it worked out great. I went with the 17mm sway bar and also replaced the front strut tower braces with the 6-speed version at the same time (I already had 17 inch 6-speed wheels with 225/50-17 Yokohama Avid V4S tires). Excellent upgrade...the car feels tied together now and the rear end stays put. I am left wondering though, how the 20mm sway bar would have felt...oh well, maybe I'll give it a try when the weather is nicer :naughty:.

There's a comparison somewhere on the forum of a 14 vs 17 vs 20 swaybar. A person using the 20mm one said it causes too much oversteer and made him spin it on the highway

Thanks for the feedback.

Before I tried it, I just wanted to make sure there was at least a chance that it was still a do-able mod for the '06. :D It's definitely a worthwhile mod for a couple of bucks and an hour or two on a Saturday. I could always put the factory bar back on if there's a problem.

I can't wait until spring - 17" inch wheels and the rear bar upgrade.

Trip, I'm confident you'll be delighted next spring with the changes you have outlined. The 17" wheels will make a big difference and the sway bar will be icing on the cake. I might also suggest the Neuspeed short shifter kit since you have a 5 speed. It's a reasonably priced ($50) mod, and it does reduce the shift throw by about 25-30% as claimed, but it does increase effort slightly. Though Honda's generally shift well, a little improvement can still be appreciated.

Good suggestion. I'll add it to the list. Hopefully I'll still want to drive the Prelude after making these mods :D

The Honda accessory aluminum billet shift knob I added weighs about 3x as much as the standard knob. The extra weight puts a little more *oomph* in my throws. The greater effort of the short shifter kit might be a good match with the heavier knob. :) Just a thought.

IndyMann99, I got mine online @ www.acuraparts247.com. Some previous posters got theirs from HondaAcuraWorld. Nothing wrong with going to a dealer as long as you can get a good price from them. I looked up my invoice and it was $44.70 delivered for the sway bar, bushings, and brackets. You should do a search on the Drive Accord Forums. There is a wealth of info as to pros and cons of bar size, part #s with links, etc. I found the info quite useful when I was in the process of buying and installing my bar. I'll say thanks now, to the previous posters whose info helped me!

Is there a factory Sway BAr swap for older Accords like 3rd, 4th, and 5th Gen? I'd like to do my 96' LX if it were a direct swap. I am very pleased with my 2006 Accord susp. setup. It's good enough for how I use it.
