Thumbs down New Logo and Advertising?

It appears we have a new logo and advertising.

Personally I have to say the old banner was much better. Classy and professional looking. Kind of looks cheap now with, especially with the advertising in the header.

Don't mind the ads so much, but I tend to think they cheapen the forum if we get too many of them or put them in the wrong places.

Has there been a funding issue or something? I know the server had to be upgraded to a dedicated server (not cheap I'm sure).

Oy ve. Let it go people! The new site may not be as aesthetically pleasing but who cares. The site works the same, the same information is here, and our sponsors will (hopefully) get some more business. It's a win win for all.

Yes, read the forum below this. Autoguide.com has bought out DriveAccord.

I don't mind the new logo and all, and its good to get our sponsors better support at the top of the page. I am, however, strongly opposed to a TOYOTA ad under the menu on every page I access. Get that shit out of this forum! Plus all these ads is really going to bog down the performance of this server.

Ah crap, I liked it when the sponsors were at the bottom. Now I actually have to remember their websites. ><

Lots of changes going on, looking forward to hearing from Autoguide regarding how this will change things. Not going to get overly negative on any of it, and a refreshed look never hurts.

Main concern for most members is probably about if the forum becomes "overly commercial" -- as it's been said. This forum always had a bit of a homey feel. I'm sure all of us have had experience with these types of transitions, members leave, mods leave, forum changes. Even from a sponsors perspective, sponsors often are more concerned on making a sale than stopping to help. I've seen many of these transitions, but of course staying positive until we hear/see more!

The sponsors are back at the bottom on the homepage. I don't care about the ads. We all get a free service. Websites have to make money to keep running. This is not 2006 when we had under 3K members the site is growing so it costs more.

^ Exactly.

It's either people pay a membership fee and get no ads, or it's small ads and no membership fees. You can't have it both ways with the way DriveAccord has been growing over the past couple of years. The costs are just too great for one person to absorb.

Wink

Aside from the banner which could be a bit better, I think it looks alright now - kind of a clean look (via a little Ad Block Plus magic):

It would be nicer if a Sponsor's Page was added on the side menu of the forum's portal to list all of the sponsors if they want to find it faster without waiting for it to show up through the banner rotation at the top.

This is a good suggestion Aramas. I do make notes on what you all say for right now I am just trying to play catch up with all the threads started asking what people think of the new banner and answering questions about what happens next.

The new look is just fine but Aramas makes great sense for our "local" paying sponsors.
