I rarely get colds/ sick, but when I do, i try to get as much rest as possible. It helps me feel better the following day.

You need to believe in them or it's not going to work! Didn't you know that the placebo effect works better than the best medicines out there??

THIS cold virus going around is a whopper-doozie!!

I don't get colds very often, when I do I may have symptoms for a day or two.

THIS one has a couple of icky throat days, then the sinuses clog, it zaps all your energy, your head hurts, ears plug, cough isn't productive, some have teeth hurting or jaws, some end up with ear infections, some have had bronc. infections, some have been fighting it for 2 or 3 weeks!!

I came down with it Sunday. I drugged myself to keep still & went to bed. Didn't help. I still came down with it.

Orange juice. Teas. Haven't cut it.

Cold medicines seem to work once, then nothing.

Prescription drugs for decongesting the same, work once.

My head hurts. My back hurts from being inactive. My sinuses hurt. My ears hurt. A tooth hurts. My jaw is swollen.

Yesterday I though "OK, all this babying isn't doing it....I"ll sweat it out!". I got on the treadmill...... I had forgotten to change shoes. Now I have 2 raw heels!! Blisters!

I think this week should be deleted. It's been icky!!!

*sniff* *cough* *sniff*

Each cold you get is different. The symptoms are similar, but it's never exactly the same each time... Some things I tried that works pretty well are dressing warmly (warm enough to sweat a little) and minimize any exposure to cold air. Try to keep shower time to a minimum and take cold medicine to fight the symptoms. Get plenty of rest. Using these methods, I get 80% better after a day or two. Hope that helps!

I don't really believe in taking vitamins, but it could help, too.

No meds for me. All they do is suppress the symptoms. The last thing I want to do is screw with my immune system.

One of the few bad things about being retired is you can't take a day off when you get sick. The same for vacation days. And most times we run out of $$ before we run out of month, especially with the gas prices.

Back to the colds. I start taking Vitamin C around Dec 1st and continue until about April 1st. Did this when I lived in Ohio and still do it. Haven't had a cold for a couple of years. It helps that I am retired, as I'm not around a lot of others with colds. This winter we bought some "Airborne" and LOML uses it when she subs at school to help prevent getting a cold. She thinks it works and thats whats important.
