Not everyone suggests this. Everyone except for Accordriver that recommends the 07 OWNS an 07. I be just as happy with an 06.

You want a 5th generation, those were indeed special. Preferably a 1997 special edition.

Use your head, the best year is the best used car you can find with the least miles and the most service records..........one owner, keeps it looking good, dealer maintained according to schedule, etc.
There is no best year, it's what shape the car is in. It's just common sense.

I have had 0 issues with my 2003 (7th gen) 4cyl sedan, at 90k miles now. I have also heard good things about the 6th gen 4 cyl as well.

I have a 2006 with 93k. If I were you, I would have already been on the phone or visiting dealerships to see if they have any overmaintained 2006-2007 Accords. As you can see by what I just said and by my name, I already own one 2006 Accord and I am always eager to find a sleeper 2006-2007, mainly a 2006-2007 coupe 6MT or 5MT. If I were you, I would choose these specific models and transmission options first before moving your search wider to 2006-2007 5AT and maybe any and all sedan trims.

One last tip, if you do find any 6th gen or even 5th gen Accord, try to get one with a replaced transmission and I can almost guarantee you that car will last good even at extreme old age.

Hurry, just like the holidays, time is running out....

(btw, I did this very thing I just suggested and could not find any 5 mt or 6mt 2006-2007 Accords, only automatic transmission which is only 5AT and not 6AT plus I heard popping noise on a 5AT V6 sedan indicating bad tranny. I did find a lot of 6th gen Accord off Craigslists and at dealerships but didn't followup to see if trannys were replaced. I would only consider a mint condition 5th or 6th gen and only if the transmissions were either over-maintained or replaced and warrantied- just too many things that could fail rendering your car unreliable- very un-Honda like.)

Post 7th Generation

All 7th Generation Accords (2003-2007) are top rated in used car predicted reliability in Consumer Reports. That is, in every single year, they're all listed as a full red circle (meaning "Best Possible") for predicted overall reliability.

The 2007 model year is the best out of all of them, with a full red circle in ALL categories being evaluated, except for "Electrical System", which has a half red circle (4/5). This makes sense, as beyond simply being the newest, Honda had an entire model production run to improve manufacturing quality, and eliminate any bugs in the car that might have presented themselves earlier in the 7th Generation's existence. For pretty much any model car, the last year of that model's run is always your best bet in terms of reliability, thus, the 2007 Accord is a superb choice.

Overall, the 7th Generation Accord has been so reliable that there isn't a single rated trouble-spot area below a half red circle (4/5), except for the 2006 Accord, which has an empty circle (3/5) for "Electrical System".

In short, I wouldn't have any hesitation buying a used 7th Generation Accord from any year it was produced, just so long as it was well cared for and mileage is within reason. And if you can afford it, a 2007 is your best possible bet out of all of them.

The Camry sports a good record as well, although over the course of the previous model's run (2002-2006), it doesn't rate as well across the board as the 7th Generation Accord does. For that matter, the present model Camry doesn't rate as well as the 7th Generation Accord. Neither does the present model Accord!

Thank you kind Sir. On occasion the wisdom overcomes me (rarely, I admit) and I must spit it forth.......hopefully this was one of those times.

I would say a 2007 used Accord, because this is where you save money.

If you look at buying a 1 to 2 yr old Accord, the price difference between used & new at this point is not worth it.

Good luck

5th gen are unbelievable. Still driving my 95 that I bought new. The quality of the interiors of those cars still beats many new ones made today. People get in my car and can't believe it's 15+yrs old. Other than normal wear and tear items (and crappy clear coat failure [is there a 5th gen that doesn't have this problem?]), that car is solid as a rock.

My 03 SE lasted until 178k and the 98 V6 lasted until 245k but I'd say go for the 06 or 07.
