Limited slip differential
So, as far as I know the 6mt accords don't have an lsd. At least I can't tell there is one in my car and the TL and Si do have an lsd.
Besides cost savings why would they not put an lsd on the same trans they put in the Si (or at least I think it shares the same trans) and the TL? Which leads me to my final question. How hard or expensive would it be to get an lsd on my 6mt? I did search and couldn't find much on here. Josh

perhaps honda just feels accords dont need one. civic si on the other hand, are catered to a performance oriented crowd so lsd with the 6speed is a must.
i believe someone over at v6p put lsd on his 7th gen but that was a lot of work. http://www.v6performance.net/forums/...09173-lsd.html i wish my car had lsd to stop the torque steer lol

^Cool link. It pretty much gave me the ballpark answer I was looking for. It sounds like a TL lsd can be put into the trans if it has to come out for some reason.
With being a heavy footed dd, I think I would like one and also benefit daily from it's use.

Actually, an LSD would worsen the torque steer. Think it's mostly for putting power down coming out of corners and such.

+1. As stated above, the LSD is for exiting corners under high power. Normally the inside wheel spins and the car loses maximum traction. In a straight line, at least in my car, both tires spin if I give it too much power. Both wheels always bite and the car puts down two lines of rubber. Yours probably does too. Therefore in a drag race situation, an LSD would not improve performance. The extra weight might actually hurt it. How often do you race out of corners?

I thought LSD reduces torque steer. Since both wheels are supposedly spinning equally, the car won't "steer" to the left or right as much.
To answer the OP's question, just swap to a TL-6MT and you're set. Directly bolts on.

From what I read on v6p it suppose to reduce tq steer. Base TL-6MT not the -S

why is it that only the 6speeds get lsd? why didnt it come with the automatics too?

One contributing factor of torque steer is the unequal length of the driveshafts as well as the angle the drive shafts are relative to the hub.
The ONLY way that a set of drive wheels will not slip is if you welded the differentials, they are called "locked differentials", LSD still has some slip but much reduced, the slip is still required to allow the car to turn since the inside tires will rotate at slightly slower speed than the outside ones. Is LSD going to reduce torque-steer? Probably, although the intented purpose is to mimimize the inside tires from spinning during accerlation out of a corner. As for putting the TL-S 6MT LSD in 7th Gen 6MT, it has been done, one DA member in Ottawa area had done exactly that but he has since sold the car, it won't be cheap between the LSD itself and the labor to remove the transmission, take it apart to replace the diff, then put everything back together again.

So... the only way to not have torque steer is to not have a differential, hahaha

From what Ive read I thought LSD increases torque steer as the front tires fight to gain traction equally. If you are taking a corner hard and the inside tire loses traction under power, the transfer of power to the tire with the traction is going to tug on the wheel.

NO!!!! An LSD will NOT increase tq steer. tq steer occurs because one tire is getting more traction than the other. so that side accelerates faster than the other causing the tq steer. The lsd will transfer power from a tire that has less traction to the tire that has more. So in the case of a FWD car the side with the shorter CV shaft is typically the drive tire and will slip before the wheel with the longer shaft. As soon as the LSD senses that there is a loss of traction it will transfer power to the other tire thus reducing tq steer.
In my 94 accord before the LSD it was an open diff h22. it pushed hard to the right due to the right side tire loosing traction and the left side retaining traction. After the lsd it pulls straight every time. If you have ever driven a car with an LSD you know exactly what I am talking about. The car will launch must straighter.
