Locked keys inside car

Any easy way to open the doors? If not, what's a fair price to pay to have them opened? I'm thinking of calling a towing service, does the standard tool work on the 7th gen?

I know but even after you resolve your problem, you really should consider it. It isn't very expensive and they can really help you out when needed.

Never got a 2nd set.. Funny thing is, I was gonna install a keyless entry this wknd (I have a DX and it's the only annoying missing feature), if I had the extra remote I could unlock it.. Oh well, just joined AAA online and will call them tom morning.. I just hope they don't scratch my window..

Call dealer get them to cut key with vin number... Don't pay for the programming fee though, you only need it to open your doors.

They won't scratch your windows, we have a few slim jims in auto shop and it's pretty simple. Nothing bad will happen unless just bad luck or the guy's first day

I agree with Accord4Life...try calling a dealership and see if they can do anything for you (you will need the key tag that you got when you purchased the car more than likely...not sure though if you are not having the key programmed as well). I mean the worst they can say is "no", and then AAA can do their thing. If Honda can help you out...you now have a spare key and no possible chance of a scratched/damaged window.

just my 2 cents...

Just a caution for you. If you only have 1 key, there are 2 other keys floating around somewhere that can open and start your car. From your posting, it sounds as if you bought the car used. Check with the previous owners and see if they still have them.

Thumbs up

Triple A came and opened the door in 10-15 seconds. The device was very ingenious, and witnessing the act left me speechless. Simply amazing! Gone are the days of slim jims and scratched windows!

I'm not really concerned about the other keys out there. I bought my car from a Chevy dealer (trade-in) and it's such a popular model that it's impossible to recognize. After witnessing how this guy opened the door, I think the biggest security device in my car is the manual transmission

I'm getting an alarm and PDLs installed tomorrow morning to protect against "retaaaded" incidents such as this, and also have it make a little noise in case someone tries to open it (probably useless).

I'm glad that you were able to get it open with little fuss. If you're going to spring for an alarm cough up for one that disables the ignition so hotwiring won't start the car. It ain't bulletproof but they'll likely have to tow it to get it. Oh, and get a spare key from a dealer too!

Most alarms disable the starter, not the ignition. This is fine for an automatic, but not for a stick. You can always push start the car. This is done on the starter because if the alarm malfunctions, the engine will kill and you will be in deep sh@#. It's also a liability issue with installers and shops. I myself refuse to do an ignition cut out.

That's interesting. Mine is a stick but came with the stock 2004 Honda alarm which they label "ignition interrupt".
Wonder if that's a fancy name for starter disable? I'd like to know about this.
