225/50 ZR 16 W (pressures)

Yep, that's what I'm slappin on her. I know some of you guys will say that they are fat, but so am I. I want the sportier profile. What pressure should I put in them? I like a soft (very soft) ride. I know some of guys balloon them up; not me. Thanks!!

if you like a soft ride going to 50 pro wont help you at all. go with 225/60/16. taller tire but softer than 225/50/16.

You almost never get a soft ride on 50's. If you lower the pressure, any pothole you hit will dent your rim. If you go 225x60, you'll probably rub when you turn and you'll screw up your speedo big time. If you want to do it right, move up to 17's and get the correct tire size. In the long run, you'll be happier and have less problems.

Too late. I already ordered the tires. I guess the kid in me wants the sportier look (50's) and the adult in me won't let me upgrade to 17's (frugal.) What pressure would you guys recommend to get the softest ride with no chance of damaging the rims? A set of rims here costs around 1000 $!!!! The 2006 costs almost 50,000 $!! The average salary here is 1,000$ a month. You guys are lucky!! I can't even get cool acesseries without paying taxes (that is if they'll ship them here.)

A friend put wider tires on his OEM 16" rims. What I noticed is how much more the sidewall seems to bow and flex. If anything, I would go with a higher pressure to help keep the sidewall from flexing as much. Heat buildup in a tire is cause in part by the flexing of the side wall as the tire rotates. I run 35/33 with my 215/50R17 rubber and find the ride pretty much unchanged. I would try starting with that and maybe even add another couple pounds and see what that does.
