Sunroof switch not illuminating

It appears the bulb in my sunroof button has gone out and it doesn't illuminate anymore when I turn on parking/headlights.

Who can tell me what I need to do to replace the bulb if I can, or does this warrant a new switch?

It's not a pressing issue, just a mild inconvenience.

Thanks.

just pop the switch out on either side of the switch you should see a Philips driver head so unscrew that and that's your tiny bulb there might be two but idk . the bulbs might cost around $6 or more. my opinion is you go to a junk yard open up any older Honda sun roof switch take the bulbs out and put them in yours. i did that for my civic because dealership was asking too much for the tiny bulbs so i took a lot of bulbs off any Honda i found kept them for future use and yea any Japanese car you see all the bulbs are similar

This bulb is the same as inside the old cruse control or fog light switch.
The bulb is expensive
You will need to open apart the entire overhead assembly
Good Luck

Illustration number 7. It's round $4 at the stealership. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...atcgry5=SWITCH

IIRC, your local parts store will not have this bulb, but I've been wrong before. Maybe one of these two will work, but you'd have to remove the one you have and compare.

Why??? The button is near the door, not in the overhead assembly.

could I just pull the bulb from the hazard light switch? At the link above it doesn't list the bulb part #.

EDIT: just called local dealer and they didn't have one in stock, but said that 99% of the time honda uses same piece with different part # for bulbs.

I'm going to pull the one from the hazard switch and see if it fits. Will update when I figure it out.

Lameness. The bulbs were cross compatible, but none fixed it. I don't think the sunroof switch is getting power to the illumination wires. I put 3 different bulbs in the socket, took the switch COMPLETELY apart down to the circuit board, bent the connection pins in hopes of getting a better connection, but nothing worked. The bulbs I put in there did work in the hazard/pass airbag location, so it's something to do with the power source to the sunroof switch.

One cool thing is that if you plug in the hazard switch to the sunroof connector and press the button, the sunroof will open. Only way to close is to put the sunroof switch back on though.

I guess I'll live with it.

those two bulbs are no near match to the one the goes in the switch. i tried getting bulbs from other auto stores but none had those type of bulbs so dealership is the choice or best thing is junk yard as i said before all the Japanese cars have similar bulbs

@Toshbar try switching the way you put in the bulbs because it might just be an negative or positive thing

What year and model?

Though you may think that all those bulbs are the same, many have different milliamp ratings.

I've replaced those bulbs like 3 times on my ex v6 (2003). They ARE NOT expensive, well at least not on mine. $2.96 apiece at majestic.

I don't advise using your hazard switch to control the sunroof, but if you got the roof to move, it sounds like your wiring is good to some extent. Remember, that if it's a moonroof, that switch is a 3 way (close/open/vent). Just from your info and without proper troubleshooting with a meter, I'd guess your switch is bad. If you got a meter and turned your lights on, you should find 14v going through somewhere on that connector. And i'm sure the wiring schematic is on here somewhere.

You could just get a new switch (35830-SDA-A01) at the dealer or ownerlink or majestic or g1. They're $19.46 at majestic. It may come with a bulb (35850-SDA-A01) already in place.

The switch is fine. It just doesn't illuminate.

Wow, talk about bullsh*t information. A $4 bulb is not expensive. The 7th Gen Accord sunroof switch is in the lower dash, not the overhead console. Remove one screw and drop the lower dash panel and pop out the switch. Go to any Honda parts site and search your vehicle under Electrical/Switches and you will find the replacement bulbs.

Just want to be sure, the 14V 40mA bulb (blue colored), do you remove the blue bulb from its blue base? Or when you purchase the bulb, the blue base comes with it?

I would say no that it doesn't but in that case, the only place where you can purchase it as one piece(with the base) is at Honda.

Any help would be appreciated .. thanks!

Radio Shack, $1.99 for 2 bulbs. You take out the old bulb, reuse the base and wire in the new bulb. I just did this for my hazard light. Works just fine.

Thanks for the replies guys. Perhaps for the hazard light, it allows you to remove the bulb but not for the sunroof switch. It seems to be molded in there. It is not budging at all. Will just go to Honda and buy a new bulb with base.
