Philips HIR2 from Amazon..did i get the real one?... Help Markus!! lol

I Just got my bulbs from amazon and put them in. The packaging doesn't say HIR2 on it anywhere, but I recall another member seemed to say the same thing.

It says '9012' and '9012LL' . Also 'Standard' and 'Original equiptment quality'.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm that the box for the authentic HIR2 bulbs are meant to say this?

It's just that it doesn't seem that bright compare to stock and I'm wondering if I received the correct ones.

Thanks!

Philips 9012 and HIR2 terms are interchangeble.

I too find that it aint that much brighter than stock in naked eyes.

I would just keep the stock one for spare ones.

Cool thanks a lot man! Yeah when I wrote the post above I only saw them in the daylight , however now when I just drove home at night they do seem to light up the road pretty well! They seem quite bright but I havn't used stock bulbs for over 2 years so Im just going off of memory. Im pretty happy with them. They are definitely a yellow though, which I dont really have problems with.

No problem mate, i have a white car so yellow doesn't really bother me, but if i had a gray, silver, or any color in between white and black, i would hate yellow light.

I saw that you are from Auzzi, how much does a I4 accord cost in your country?
LX which is a base model. Auzzi dollar used to be half of US dollar, now its like 1.1 : 1.0 it favors you guys.

With the HIR2, there's not meant to be a crisp cutoff with these or any halogen light, right? That's only with HID in projectors? Sorry for the newb question, I'm not really much of a 'light guy'.

The RRP on road price for the base i4 here is 36k and 43k for luxury i4. They do come with a few extra features though but nothing major. Honda Aus seem to be stubborn in their prices though compare to other companies even here and they are slipping in rankings. What we really get raped on are the Euros. An m3 here is about 160k!

DW,

You're golden. I've bought 3 sets of the 9012 HIR-II's from Amazon. If you look at the back of the bulb where all the writing is (with a magnifying glass,) you'll see they do indeed state HIRII. The packaging does not state this.

And they should have a fairly good cutoff (not as good as projector beam lamp assemblies) but they the Accord sedan halogen reflector beam housing does a good job in the cutoff dept. The HIRII bulb won't make it any "better," it's the reflector bowl that effects the cutoff.

Enjoy!

Thanks Mack! A friend put them in for me so I never asked him how snug they were in there, but prior, I cut the tabs and everything according to the instructions so I assume they are seated in there correctly. If I want to check that, can I simply reach in by hand to get to the globe after peeling back the wheel trim liner?

No problem at all mate.

You most certainly can get to them once you "peel" back the front of the wheel opening lining. It's just a 9006 bulb & housing fitment. Nothing special.

Purchased the 9011 HIR1 from amazon for $18 a bulb, was skeptical at first since every where else I checked had them for $30 a bulb.

Anyway, long story short, they were legit and vastly superior to my previous philips 9005 bulbs. Best $36 I ever spent.

It is not installed properly if it doesn't have a clean cut
it happened to me. I thought I had it on right. Double check I bet he put it wrong. Make aure to check whether all 3 tabs are properly seated.

As far as th price. If I was to buy a m3 Iwould buy. Ut here in us whichis around 60k us it is bout 60k in auz. Even if I factor in the cost of tax and shipping. One could easily save more than 80k ..... what a suprising price

Thanks man, I will check it asap. 60K?? I cant go to bed now knowing that...I knew it was cheap maybe 80k but 60!. About the importing thing, I don't think we could get it from the US because the steering wheel here is on the right side. In Germany/UK though they would be much cheaper as well and I don't get why people dont import them here. They wont get the warranty but the amount you save would be like half or more!

Good call Bryan. That's probably what the issue is if DW doesn't have a good clean cut off line...

same thing happened with me - installing the bulbs blind can sometimes result in a missed tooth.
if anyone wants them i have some extra trimmed philips hirII bulbs since my retrofit makes them no longer needed.
