Trunk Springs

Hey everyone,
I noticed that when I open the trunk it doesn't lift up by itself like I'm used to with the 06 I have and the 09 I used to have. If I am correct this is affected by the trunk springs? I do have a deck lid spoiler installed on the car which I know has a heavy duty spring bar. Any advice on how to make it lift a little higher is appreciated. Pictures would help too

Its the spoiler ! My trunk doesn't lift up either because of the spoiler. If you want it to lift up properly then REMOVE THE SPOILER no other choice lol

But on the '09 I had the trunk lifted up higher than this '12 and it had a full wing spoiler on it! I'm sure the wing spoiler is heavier than the decklid.

When I installed my spoiler, I had to remove the counter balance weight. Trunk lift went back to the way it was.

It's in the center of the trunk lid, away from you, toward the rear glass side.

I had a post and pic here (on someone's thread as a DIY). Pop out the tab. Peel back the trunk lining. You should see it. Remove with screw driver.

Too lazy to look it up.

Maybe GolowDrew can be more of a active guy and find us both the solution he is talking about but to be honest it doesn't really bother me

Are the heavy duty springs installed? The factory spoiler comes with springs that you have to use with the spoiler.

The springs should have a second notch to lock in and give them more tension but I don't know which is which.

The spoiler came installed from the dealer so I'm not so sure how the stock one looked. I'm assuming the stock one has two white springs and the heavy duty spring is a single black one. The notch positions is what I am unsure about.

I'll try to go and find GoLowDrew's post and I'll repost it here if i find it...

actually there is another choice which is 1. heavy duty trunk springs and 2. remove metal trunk weight

Yes, because it was a coupe guy that helped me with my sedan. He described it where it was in his coupe, which lead me to find it in my sedan. That's where this pic came from.

FYI, the A are also weights too, but don't remove it as they help the trunk closed.

After my spolier with "stock" springs, it seems dead. It unlocks but won't pop up. Without the weight, it's about 90% the way it was. IMO, more than good enough.

Thank you all for the help. My first choice is adjusting the heavy duty spring that is already installed. Does anyone know an ideal latch position for them? If not I'll go ahead and remove the trunk counter weight.

You can buy a heavy duty spring bar from the dealership. They are used on accords with the lighted and unlighted wing spoiler.

Are you aware of how the heavy duty spring bar looks? I'm assuming its the black one that I have and that the stock ones are beige...

the stock one and the heavy duty look about the same, except the heavy duty one was "heavier" and a bit thicker. I had a decklid spoiler originally on mine and was unsatisfied that whenever I popped the trunk it would only unlatch but never pop up so I swapped out one of the trunk springs with the heavy duty one. Made a world of difference.

For the V6, I know that there should be 2 heavy duty trunk springs you can swap out.
