Good Headlights?

What's a good pair of headlights for my 2009 coupe... I want something that has halo's in it, and just looks good

have you considered putting halos in your factory lights?

my factory lights are terrible. I don't know if it's just the bulbs or what, but they are awful. They barely better than the daytime running lights

yeah.. the ebay one are not going to be much better. Have you consider getting a retrofit? I put s2000 projectors in those coupe headlights before.

S2000 retrofit and put halos in. The projectors aren't cheap, but retrofitting IS WORTH THE MONEY.

I personally run with standard bulbs and never in my life do I use high beams. I have pretty good night vision though, and the brighter your beams are the darker everything outside of those beams becomes in comparison (the way the eye works). I am running the Anzo brand headlights, but don't expect improved light output. It really seems identical to stock! If you have poor night vision, the S2000 HID retrofit might be a good solution for you.

before you do anything too fancy, you might consider trying a quality HID kit in the stock projectors with perhaps a halo add-on. The projectors are actually designed to handle HID quality output, so they project HID bulbs perfectly.

Check this out... they do give decent light.

Gonna be the first one to light the fire on this one:

Last I checked, the coupe has HALOGEN projectors, which implies they're optimized for halogen bulbs. If they were meant for HIDs, they would've came with HIDs stock. However, they're not HID projectors, didn't come with HIDs, so best to get proper HID projectors, retrofit them, and enjoy the improved lighting with proper light distribution that doesn't glare oncoming drivers. As noted by Markus all over the forums, halogen bulbs have one burning arc while HID bulbs have two. The stock halogen projectors on the coupes does handle HIDs in an okay fashion, however it's not the best.

OP: The OEMs are as good as it'll get unless you shell out the money for a retrofit. The price you spend on a new aftermarket set will pay the majority, if not all (depending on the projectors) of the costs for the projectors and/or labor (hit up thisaznboi88 for some good deals on professional quality. He can also add halos for you!). If you don't want to shell out that money, then get H9 bulbs for the low beams. They require minor modifications to the tabs in order to fit the H11 low beams on the coupe, however they will give you the best halogen lighting possible that will work properly with the coupe's halogen projectors.

Ha here we goooooooooo! but seriously Coupe projectors are intended for Halogen bulbs not hids. Anzo makes some decent aftermarket lights as well as Eagle Eye. what else? retrofit is the best option but could end up being pricey depending on the projectors you decide to use. good luck!

In those picture, I assume the light output are with the high beam on because the last pic, the high beams are on.

As for our coupe projectors, from my point of view, i think HID works pretty good on them. Some people say it's no difference between stock bulb and HID, but i honestly think HID is better. When you are driving in a completely dark road with no street lights or anything, HID produces so much light because the light is spread wider. Halogen bulbs aims straight, preventing you from seeing left and ride side.

I remember driving on a highway and looking for an exit, I couldn't even see where the ramp was with the halogen bulb because the exit was to the right side and the light output wasn't enough to shine to the right. This is the main reason I put HID in mine.

As for glare, i get more glare from oncoming drivers with HID in HID projectors than HID in halogen projectors, Acura TL to be specific. But it's not enough for me to cover my eyes or blind me from the road in front of me. I don't know why people complain about these.

The glare that are really dangerous are the ones in those trucks with reflectors housing. They are at eye level and they look like they're on high beam. Those will blind the shit out of you. Glare in the coupe projectors are very minimal.

As for light output, I really wish someone would end this debate with a side by side comparison or two pictures comparison. I got HID in mine way before i read about halogen projectors or H9 bulb in our projectors and I notice big differences.

lol good to learn something every day. Thanks for that.

My information came directly from the service tech at Economy Honda. I was curious about this before I bought it, but apparently the guy was full of it. Should have asked Markus -__-

In reality though, HID's look incredible in our stock lights whether or not they're "designed" for it or not... so it's really up to the buyer.

Actually if you look at the pictures, you can see that his brights aren't on. You can tell when brights come on by any sort of light Above the cutoff line, which there isn't in those pictures. I'd say that as you go higher in color, you start to lose brightness, but his pictures are pretty darn close.

I had a good set of projectors on my civic, and the amount of glare that I get off these straight-on vs the amount of glare off the civic is almost the same. These actually do a bit better. I'll talk to the tech at Honda again and see if he had any kind of proof backing up his statement, but my guess is that he was just blowing smoke.

For the Acura TL, there's so many possibilities why you're getting glare:
1. You're under the cutoff
2. The driver has their high beams on, which involves lowering the cutoff shield in their projectors (The 3rd gen Acura TL has pretty much the best bixenon HID projectors out there, which means it's both a low beam and high beam projector).
3. Their headlights aren't aimed properly
4. You're just extremely sensitive to the light from them

I have been blinded by car's with oem projectors. Not Tl but other car's like Ford Edge they have blinded me for sure and just yesterday I was blinded by Honda odyssey at first I thought it was hid but as soon as I passed by her it was oem projectors on brand new odyssey. Maybe the odyssey was on higher ground then where I was but the point is I seriously feel I get blinded more by projectors but it doesn't really bother me that much
