Hi guys, I just got my 05 accord i-4 last month.

This is a nice car but I just feel that the time that the engine start is a little bit too long.
At first i thought it might be the battery's problem as the original battery has last more than 6 years... So I replace the battery. But the car still goes nan nan nan a few extra times before it actually starts.

I searched the older posts and found out that honda did a recall about this issue in 2007(fuel pump relay problem), but I've checked my VIN# and it isn't on the list.

I also recorded a video, here's the link:

I am just checking do you guys has the same problem?

2004 does same. I thought it was weird. On some days when it's cold it'll take twice that long.

Also, why does the green light for Drive light up when you turn on the key as well as the red one for Park? Forgive me, I have a MT.

A pretty common mod around here is to upgrade to the V6 battery and ground wire.

hi, guys...

During these two days, I found my accord getting worse.
Sometimes it may goes a few extra times even compare to the first video I posted here.
I took another video and here's the link. It may take even longer time but I haven't recorded.

I think i may need to check something. Do you guys think it is the starter?

thx~~~~~~

Normal.

I believe it has something to do with ULEV which is used to reduce emissions at startup.

Mine actually sounded worse than that before I replaced the starter. Apparently the contacts start to fail and the armature doesn't receive full voltage, so it rotates slower than it should.

Things got even worse today. When I tried to start my car this morning, it just cranked for few seconds and didn’t start. Then I turned the switch to 0, and tried again, it finally started. But later this day when I tried to start the car, it seems normal. Something must go wrong here. I’ve recorded a video.

I think both of yours take longer to crank than mine.

c10td, I would look at the starter. Your gauges don't dim when cranking, so that rules out the battery. Does your Drive green light always light up right when you turn the key to ON?

I will go and find a place to check the starter next week.

The Drive green light will light up for a couple of seconds when I turn the key to ON. I think it is normal for all AT accord. There's another video of a V6 at accord start up I found on youtube. The green light light up too.

might want to replace the starter...mine was doing the same thing. at first i thought it was the battery being weak so i replaced the battery first and it was doing the same thing. so i figured it must be the starter and ever since i replace the starter it never happened again

Mine was like that too, changed spark plugs and put a new Bosch Battery and its not that bad anymore. But still kind of sounds like its struggling to start.
