IE crashing while on DA - FYI

FYI - It's happening too often to be a coincidence. It might be something with my PC.

IE crashes on me while I'm on DA. It always happens while submitting a new post - either while I'm typing or when I click on the submit or preview button. I don't have any problems otherwise with my PC or crashing while on other websites. Once I close all my browser windows and open them again, it's fine unitl I restart my PC the next day and it'll eventually happen again.

Like I said, it could just be my PC. Didn't occur to me until this morning that it always happens when on DA. Wasn't sure if anyone else was havintg hiccups.

Just an FYI.

For the longest time mine hangs up on DA. The page sometimes has trouble loading which requires many refresh clicks or getting out of DA completely and coming back in. Like yourself it only occurs here, never anywhere else. Same when posting, going back a page, or just in general. Doesn't always happen but when it does it's sure an aggravation. I cleared the cookie then saved it again and it helped for a few days.

I posted about it but, at that time, no one else had a problem so

Happens to me also.. Will get to the last bar on the loading bar, and then hangs up. 95% of the time it will finish loading in 10 to 15 seconds, but every once in a while, I have to exit IE and reload it.. It seems to happen when a lot of people are online at the same time.. Help us Ward.

Does anyone have this problem on DA. When correcting typing mistakes by holding down backspace, one of the arrow keys. or delete, that the screen starts filling up with 4 or 6's..

hasnt crashed for me, but sometimes it hangs for a bit when loading pages. its trying to access "www.acuralive.net" (or .com?). after that attempted connection times out, the page loads fine. wards, can you check on that?

this is using firefox, btw.

if you're having issues i'd recommend clearing cookies, history, temp files, also nuke everything in the directories below:

* NOTE * IF YOU DELETE SOMETHING IMPORTANT IT'S NOT MY FAULT! THESE ARE THE ITEMS I NORMALLY DELETE ON USER SYSTEMS! *

XP/2K/NT:
\documents and settings\your name\local settings\temp
\documents and settings\your name\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5
\windows\temp

9x (if I remember.. been a long time):
\windows\temp
\windows\temporary internet files\content.ie5

see if that helps.. also make sure you have the latest version of IE (6.0 SP2 for XP users, 6.0 SP1 for everything else), if not, upgrade, make sure you have the latest version of Sun java (java.com/download) & Macromedia Flash (macromedia.com)

Mine doesn't "crash" but it is taking forever to connect sometimes. It will be fine & then I'll go to post or something & it says "connecting to accuralive" for a good half minute! Most of the time it will finally connect. There's been a few times that it never did...instead it "timed out".

I haven't had this on other sites during the same nearly 2 weeks this one has been doing it.

It sure makes it hard to pop on realy quick & check what's new when I'm actually too busy to sit down. That's why I haven't been on as much. This is our last weekend to get stuff done here before we leave for Hawaii. I'll still try to do my Wed. & Thur. catch up this week.

That is an absurd statement. Because one site is hanging up we should change browsers? PPFFT.
I used FF for a while but there were just too many areas where it just didn't work so I went back to explorer.

It's probably the banner ads.

If you have Firefox you can use the adblock extension and block it, speeding up the page loads.

It kinda ****s that you have to do that in order to get the page to load reliably though.

There's the stumper though......9 out of 10 forums I frequent have the same banner ads, why do they load instantly and never hang up? Another of life's mysteries I guess.

They don't all serve from Acuralive.com or that other site that Wards serves ads from.

One site I go to has ads from adbrite and I think they use that to check stats on ad viewership etc. Hangs up pages all the time. So I just filter it out. I do support the sponsors though but their ads should not take away significantly from my browsing experience.
