This or that?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to with the painted inserts. It's kind of a PITA though and I'm not real impressed with the way the plasti-dip comes off. It doesn't seperate well where I want it to. I'm afraid it will come off sooner that I want. And yes I will be putting Honda center caps on.

Go with the second one. I'm not a fan of 2-tone rims.

i think the dipped version looks 100X better if you could get straighter edges.

I like them both, but I'm going to plasti-dip them all before mounting and roll with it. I taped the first one before I painted it. I will try not taping and see how it comes off on the next one.

I tried my best to get it to come off straight. I don't know how to make it come off better.

I love these wheels though I'm partial. I'm thinking of doing the same. It looks very unique if the edges can be straightened out like you mentioned. How much time and money am I looking at ballpark? I'm completely unfamiliar with this product besides its peelable. Im going to hit up google a bit.

Edit: The price and procedure are nice. I'm in. You used the spray I assume?

I've been doing some reading and the best approach will be to do tape the unpainted areas, "paint" and remove the plasti-dip before it can dry. If you wait until it dries (like I did) it peels apart like rubber and has to be cut off. It doesn't cut the best thus the uneven lines.

I think it's around $3-$5 per can. For four wheels it shouldn't require more than 2 cans. Time depends on how long it takes to tape each wheel. I think it took me a solid 30 minutes to do one wheel.

Thanks Sodak. I think its a good look for 10-15$ tops at home depot. The one thing I've found online is tire gel seems to eat it. That's unfortunate, I use it mostly to prevent browning. How long is the drying time? Are you waiting between coats?

I waited over 24 hours before removing the tape, but won't the next time (as stated above). One forum says to wait 72hours before washing. On the can it says to wait 30 minutes between coats. I only did two coats, and did wait 30 minutes between. With the way it sprays on I plan on doing many lights coats, but really only one coat. Spray one section, do the next and so on until it's coated well and then remove the tape. These aren't on my car so I have the luxury of waiting.

Sorry Im half asleep, long day. That is along the lines of what I was thinking as far as application as well. Worth a shot for the price. Appreciate the trial and error, keep us updated.

No worries my man! I plan to have this tackled next week so I can get my tires mounted next weekend. I won't hold my breath though.
