Could be aftermarket wiring. Audio system, HID kits, HID retrofit ...

The cruise control on Fords used to be hot, even when the car was off.

So if the car was in the garage, it could burn down the entire house.

BTW, there is a recall on that if you know anyone who own one. I think it was for models 10 or so years ago. Not sure if Ford improved it or is now using a different unit.

Anyhow, the point of this reply was that it could be something "simple" like that to set things off big time.

There are a lot of reasons to why that could've happened but we don't know. Years ago my brothers car was parked next to those huge garbage bins at apartment building so while he was gone somebody torched those bins on purpose so in result his front end of the car got completely burned.

Just out of curiosicity, in these 3 instances wouldn't it be more likely for the fuse to blow before electrical fire occured? Not that I am doubting that its possible, I just was under the impression that the (correct ampage) fuses blow if they overloaded, which should prevent electrical fire. At least thats how I though house fuses worked which I would assume is the case for car fuses.

Maybe they didn't use a fuse and hardwired it. Never underestimate how stupid people can be.
