USB iPod connection

So I was normally accustomed to using an auxillery wire for my music (iPod).....

Today I decided to try out the usb - everything works well except for one thing - How do you change music faster without scrolling through every song ? I have about 1500+ songs which makes it almost impossible to scroll from A-Z...it takes me about 3 minutes to get from A-C !

Is there a faster way of scrolling without having to turn the knob infinite number of times? I know you can limit your search to genre, artist, album etc; but is there a way to simply scroll faster ?

Anything would be helpful thanks !

I'd say that's my biggest problem with using the USB. I think the arrows only scroll about 10ish songs at a time. Oddly enough, for me, the up arrow scrolls down . Though I haven't tried holding it down to see if that makes a difference.

I found that the best way to get to the music you want is to create playlist folders in the ipod instead of dumping everything in one folder.

not to jack the thread, but you know what i noticed...i cannot seem to access my podcasts..i have been trying and trying and caanot figure out how to get to the podcast menu..also, the USB only works with an iPod. In other cars i can use a USB memory stick but not with the accord.

a usb drive will work but you have to have mp3 files at the root level and in every folder you want to be visible.

I haven't tried the category menu yet - but based on what everyone else is saying - id sacrifice the use of the channel buttons on the steering wheel to get to the songs faster

thanks for the help DOOM, but i think I'm just going to stick with auxiliary on this one.

I just ordered led lights for the driver/passenger floor with a switch that allows them flicker on/off with the bass of the music and from what I read it uses auxiliary to do it. Your knowledge will not be wasted however, because, my friend had the same problem with his usb too and he still uses it too so well use him as the guinea pig on this one lol thanks DOOM !

Yeah, that is what I do with my V3m using VIVO F/W.

Categorizing folders like MS media player works well, just keep the names some what short. Names like "The Greatest Hits of..." seem too big to scroll.

Oh, I wonder... Since we have over a thousand CD's converted into MP3 format. Does the USB link take longer time to scan folders when connected, than just having like 100 songs in the music folder???

My impression it does, and that is why we went with an aftermarket IPOD interface. Since the buttons on the head unit and steering wheel are extensions to the IPOD so all the work of sorting and playing through play lists are done at the IPOD.

Sync for MS media based phones should be the smoothest if you get a aftermarket head unit that supports Sync.

the two aren't mutually exclusive though. for example i have a 160 gig dedicated ipod that has around 140 gigs of content. i use the category key to scroll to the letter of the album i want, then the wheel to fine tune my selection. i only really use my wheel buttons for advancing songs.

i'll be the first to admit that the honda interface is less than ideal, but this approach is relatively efficient with what we have to deal with.

my on-board ipod is for more permanent content... i have an isimple and iphone dash cradle for my iphone when i want to play podcasts, something new, an emailed song, tomtom navi, etc. the honda stereo plays nice with my ipod playlists but i think it regards podcasts and audiobooks as albums.

Mods thought he may be trolling since he had a thread where he plastidipped the hell out of his car on the first day of ownership - including the tails.
