Coin Pocket Doesn't Close Anymore

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2007 Honda Accord EXL coupe and now the door of my coin pocket no longer makes the click sound nor stay closed. After I removed the assembly I found that the plastic clip that once held the little door was broken. Went to my nearest dealership and said that they didn’t sell that piece individually and that I had to buy a brand new assembly…

Does anyone know a place where I can buy this small clip? I’ve researched online and in the junkyard but to no avail.
Any help will be much appreciated, thanks!

Try looking for the part here:

Find the part number plug it in to google and find it from a wholesaler, it will be much cheaper.

Thanks for the help with the catalog, but this is the same that the parts guy showed me, and since the spring clip wasn't by itself, like a specific screw, he said that they didn't sell it. I wish I knew the exact name of that part. There is faint number on the side, but I don't know if that is the part number. I'm about to post a picture of it to help clarify

The 2009 Acura TSX has a similar coin pocket and its parts diagram references a small part called a "latch" (#42 in the parts diagram). I would go to the Acura dealer and see if it's identical to your broken part. Good luck.

Are you referring to the 'Not an Ashtray' tray? Because mine has been broke (won't close) since I bought the car a few months ago. Just didn't think to ask on here.

If you can't find the part, I would just remove the spring. (BTW I had the same problem when I sold my 2005...never fixed it, it was on my "to do" list)

Wow, this diagram is giving me high hopes! I think it might be it, but I will go ahead after work tomorrow and post back. It might be something little, but to me, completes the car; like finding a suitable "Honda" Owner's Manual case. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, that is the exact part I'm talking about it. Even though its used, I want it as close to mint and functional as possible. When I bought it, I was amazed by how well the original owner kept it (I'm its second owner). Non-smoker, accident free, regular scheduled maintenance, everything original except floor mats and the "NOT AN ASHTRAY" door not being able to close and with 85K!. In short, its was a steal and not bad on the price; I think that was cause of the recall that I made in my favor.

I had second guesses about asking, but with all the threads that seem you would be hesitant to ask, there are a lot of helpful people here, so why not?

That is my fear, but if in that case, I will just keep it for the coin door and leave the 12V socket open for the mean while. I think I will just have to wait for a part-out or whenever the junkyard has a fresh supply of 7Gen Accords... of which the latest model they only ever seem to have in stock are from 1997.

My spring popped out of mine and then it wouldn't stay UP. I found the spring though and fixed it.

Try the Acura dealer, mentioned in post #6, first as it's the cheaper option. If that isn't the right part, then you could buy a used coin pocket.

yeah... I'm not having a spring problem, but I'm missing the latch part.

Gonna follow up on his on Monday and see if it's the same part. Crossing fingers.
