Question Brakes flooring after Caliper, Rotor, and Pad change

I changed my front brake pads a few weeks ago and had no problem.

My rear passenger brake has been making a grinding metal noise for a while and was now continuous. Weather I brake or not.

I changed out the brake pads, rotors and found a sticking passenger side caliper and sliders so I replaced them and lubed them. While changing out the caliper I did lose some fluid from the brake line and I DID NOT bleed the brakes.

I finally finished just now and my brake pedal floors when I brake, but it still stops. My BRAKE LIGHT and my ABS LIGHT both come on now. None of them were ever on before.

Do I need to go back and bleed them, if so how? And that same passenger side rear brake makes a small grinding noise still. Is it likely the brake line that needs to be replaced.

Fell free to text me 786-374-9377

Did you disconnect the brake line by loosening the banjo bolt from the old caliper and installed a new caliper?

Your have to bleed the brake system when you do that.

Why did you have to change out the caliper? Did you have a stuck piston?

When you disconnect the line you let air in so you need to bleed the brakes. I'm guessing you didn't do it quick enough and a lot of air got in.

The piston was stuck and destroyed one of my pads completely and the rotor.

It is pooring hard down here in Miami, but when it clears up I will bleed both sides. I should of known better.

Thanks a ton. i will keep you posted.

You need to bleed all 4 corners. when you took the caliper loose, fluid drained downhill from the reservoir and it may not have any left in it.

Any time you have to disconnect a brake fluid line, you must bleed the system.

When you're bleeding the brakes you should bleed the wheel furthest away from the master cylinder first. If you're bleeding all four the order should be the right rear, then left rear, then right front, and lastly the left front.

OP,

It is quite scary that you would perform this work not realizing or understanding the requirement to bleed the system afterwards, you are very fortunate that you did not cause a seriours accident with the defective brake system, DO NOT drive the car until you have properly bleed the brake system completely, BTW that doesn't mean to let all the brake fluid out!!!!

I would suggest having someone do this. If you disconnected your brake line and didn't know you HAD to bleed the system because you introduced air into it the very second you disconnected it, no offense but you should not even be attempting to bleed the system.

It's a two man job, and it must be done right or you will have serious problems. Not knowing you had to bleed it, and then assuming you only needed to bleed two brakes at first, leads me to say you should most certainly take your car to a Honda dealer. Don't take it to just any garage, most regular service garages would assume you bleed these like most cars, farthest away to closest to the master cylinder, when on our Accords it's the exact opposite..... also, I would not trust any DOT3 fluid other than genuine Honda DOT3 fluid. Even if garages tell you it's fine, you don't want to take the chance of non-Honda fluids.
