Post Miles Per Tank Accord 2012

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, and wanted to say hi!

I drive a 2012 Accord SE, and I feel that I'm getting low gas mileage. Driving around the city, which I do everyday, on a full tank, since I leased the care January) I have to fill up at about 250 miles. I do not stomp the gas, i drive very normal, no hard breaking, and I try to keep my acceleration smooth. Even my current tank I tried extra hard to up my mileage, but there doesn't seem to be such a major change at all. My tires inflated to I believe 33 psi, I just took out air of all of them last week, and the MPG doesn't seem to be improving. This week I did two short highway trips, which upped my mileage a bit. But consistently I am filling up on the 240-250 range.

By the way I dont know much about cars! I drive in the "D" gear, ( I think 4th). Thanks everyone!!!

P.S.
I did do a roundtrip from NY to Baltimore, on one tank of gas (over 400 miles) if I remember corrrectly, so that seems about normal.

When the car is in drive, it goes through all the gears depending on speed obviously.

What you didn't provide is your actual MPG. Next time you fill up, divide your miles driven by the amount of fuel consumed ( gallons ).

This really doesn't help without mentioning how much fuel you used.

Too many factors contribute to mileage, city driven is going to be the worse, no matter how much you try to baby it. Idling, stop and go etc, you're constantly burning fuel but travelling very little.

Interesting, as your supposed to get better mileage than 08' through 10' 8th gens.

With our 09' Coupe

I got around 525 on about 3/4 tank (Hwy miles) which got about 37 MPG on our trip home from the dealership. Mind you 75 MPH mostly, but could not resist a few blow byes and 80 MPH time to time.

As for city 21 MPG is about norm no matter how I drive, as long as I drive sane.

Sounds like something is not right for your 12' to be such a petrol guzzler.

Before doing my mods, having A/C on, or air controls on auto made city travel a bit costly at first.

Another thing is, if your city streets are krappy (useless to coast from, traffic, hills, pot holes and what not.), you may opt to leave your gear selector in D3, as will assist in keeping ECO mode on and allow for less petrol to be used, as when in D the auto will try to stay in 5th gear. Thus causing ECO mode to consume more petrol than keeping in D3. Honda does state that in city driving D3 should be used.

Yes, but not from the heavy traffic congested areas.

21.5 MPG is lowest my car has done on a tank (nearly all city driving). And I thought that was bad...

I have the 5-speed manual transmission. However, the MPG is supposed to be the same on the automatic and manual trans.

And how many miles do you have? Where do you buy your fuel?

I have had my V6 for about 5 months.

I get about 330 miles and then put in between 15.5-16.5 gallons.
It varies. My commute is 8 miles city, 8 miles highway each way.

About 6700 miles. I buy my fuel at Sunoco almost 100% of the time, regular 87.

It will improve

My '11 6-6 Coupe got terrible mileage until the 1st oil change. Now I get 22mpg pretty consistently with a 50/50 mix of city/highway driving.

I get about 25mpg average with my i4. I have a scangauge to monitor my average mpg on trips. For mostly highway trips, I get about 30-32mpg. For mostly city trips, I get about 18-22mpg.

I know I'm not an 8th gen (looking to upgrade) but I have a 99 accord ex-v6 with 252,000 miles and I get 21 around town and 29 mpg on the highway with the ac on and 32 with the ac off on the highway. Pretty proud of that.
