It figures that this would happen right when I finally pay off the Accord...

Well guys, I hate to say it but this might be the end for my Accord. I should know for sure today or tomorrow.

This is what happens when a tracker trailer isn't paying attention on the highway and smashes into you. Hit me so hard I slammed into the Fusion in front of me. Luckily I was able to walk away with no major injuries, only some neck and back pain.

The last I heard from the body shop, there was ~11k in damages and to total it they need 12.5k in damages. I'll know for sure once they take everything apart to check for frame damage. As much as I love my Accord, at this point with all the damage I kind of hope they total it.

Jeeze!! That is a bad crash. Glad you are okay. Pay attention to your head and neck injuries, they will most likely get worse over time and once the adrenaline wears off you will feel it. Lawyer up if the pain persists.

I don't blame you for hoping it was totaled with that amount of damage. I best the woofer still bumps though.

I'm glad you are ok everything will be taken care of by insurance. On the bright side your subwoofer looks undamaged.

Yes it was on 695 and yes the sub still works!

I'm waiting to hear from the adjuster today on if the car is totaled or not.

Has your insurance company called you yet to do a recorded interview? Those can always be troublesome as they try to get you to admit you are fine and will need no further medical attention. I know I am being the crazy legal guy here but I am still fighting my last car accident that was 6 years ago.

I hired a lawyer the day after when I found out that the trucker was self-insured and they have been talking to the insurance companies for me.

The body shop just called. $10,645.00 in damages and they are going to repair it. I was hoping it would be totaled.

maybe you will get lucky when they tear into it and find more damage.

^ This or if it is fixed, dump it after the repairs. That car will NEVER drive the same.

I'd say that's totalled.. if I can't tell whether it's a sedan or a coupe because the back is so smashed.. that's pretty bad.. too bad the airbags didn't deploy, it would be totalled for sure.. glad to hear you're alright! Hope you aren't too sore!

+1.

Unibody repairs have come a long way since our '80 Citation came to within $300 of being totaled, and they repaired it, and it was an even bigger POC than it was before the accident. I begged the auto shop guy for five minutes alone with the car and a 4 lb hammer, to no avail.

Glad you're OK, tho. We wouldn't want to lose a Ravens fan. (Now you know how our guys (purple/black and black/gold) feel on the Monday after.

Good to see the body did what it was designed to do.

And as far as your body goes, if I had any pain or restricted motion at all, I would DEMAND physical therapy. Catch it early and you'll be a lot healthier down the road.

Thanks guys.

Ideally I would like to trade it in once I get it back but after just purchasing a new house I can't afford another car payment. I'll just have to do my best to make sure the repairs are done correctly and live with it.
