B1234 Minder 100k calculated costs
Just got the Maintenance Minder B1234 which is a big one.
2008 Accord V6, AT, EX-L with Nav, 4dr, 105k miles I'm guessing with the 4, I get new spark plugs and a new timing belt? I think my dealership changes out the water pump as well. Does engine coolant get replaced during this or just what is lost during the service? Two dealerships I usually go to in MD Laurel Honda - $1900 Bel Air Honda - $1000 The Bel Air estimate was just the girl on the phone adding everything up in her head. The Laurel Honda lady mentioned that the 4 (plugs and timing belt) was a $1500 service alone. Did the Bel Air adviser miscalculate over the phone or is the Laurel quote just way overpriced? Also, I know that one of the "features" of my car is that it needs no scheduled tune up until 100k miles. Is this B1234 considered my first "tune up?" other than the regular fluid changes (brake, oil, at) Any thoughts appreciated..!

I am pretty sure you also need to have the valves adjusted for an additional $500.
I was quoted +/- $2,000 for everything here in New England. Since I also needed tires for about $1,000 I traded in the 2009 for a 2012. I couldn't justify spending what amounted to 6 months car payments on a vehicle with 100K miles.

I have the 4 cylinder and there is no way in hell I am spending $1900 on my engine for 100k maintenance.
Ill trade it in for a Nissan in a NY minute before Ill do that considering the problems I have had already with my car. |

You don't have a timing belt so I'm sure your 100k maintenance will be much less expensive.

This is probably the only Bragging Rights any 4 cylinder own has is Not having to touch the timeing belt because we rocking a chain. But that water-pump.

As I understand it, 4 cylinders don't have maintenance till 120k. But at that time yea, chain, water pump,

The chain doesn't need or call for replacement at 120k or any other interval. Unless it's defective or causing issues would be the only reason for replacement. The water pump in the 4cyl is only replaced if its leaking. The serpentine belt is normally replaced at the 120k mark.
