HELP! Cleaned throttle body now crazy idle and check engine lights

Pulled the throttle body out today cause I noticed it had a lot of build up on it. So I cleaned it then put it back in. I checked everything 3 times. Then went to do the idle relearn and halfway through CEL Came on and the idle goes up and down. If you try to hit the gas it only goes up to about 3k (rpm).

Checked all the connections and even disconnected battery multiple times. (including before I started working on the TB)

Any help please would be great this is my DD.

Do you have a reader to check the code? I had that happen before but that was because I clean the throttle body on the car and got some of the cleaner on a sensor.

Once I ran it and revved the engine a little everything was fine when I restarted.

Well I'll rev it when it decides to come back on.

The problem now. When I turn the key to 1 and 2 positions. Everything powers up fine. 12.8v reading.

Then when I turn to ignition all power to entire vehicle is cut.

Just checked the main battery fuse and ignition fuse. They are still good.

At the bottom of the throttle body assembly there are two pipes that connect to the cooling system. There is a sensor in there that maintains the idle RPMs based on the temperature of the coolant that goes through the throttle body. I think they call it "fast idle" or something like that. If you can unscrew those two screws and remove the bottom part of the throttle body you'll see that there is a circle cap in it that and possibly has loosened up. Tighten it up clockwise and try again.

Aw man Keith, I'm sorry to hear you're going through this! I'm a big fan of SeaFoam - it's usually the only "internal composite cleaning" I do...to avoid things like this. I really hope you get it figured out, buddy!

G'luck

On these electronic throttle control motors you are not suppose to spray cleaner directly into them but instead spray on rag and wipe. They are sensitive.

Well the throttle opens and closes just fine now with the power on. Just the idle is running up and down from 1000-2000 the exhaust smell is super rich on fuel. It's like it's blowing out straight gasoline.

Fixed the electrical problem.

I'll try to post a video of what's going on.

Still got the CEL? Up and down usually means IACV.

man, you should not screw with stuff that is running, IMO. Just take it out once and a while and run it hard. I know you said your getting 37 mpg in the other thread so I think you just need to run her hard once and a while.

Yeah I know don't fix what ain't broke. Lol.

Looked at my IACV and completely forgot that I did the stupid throttle coolant bypass thing. Doh!

I'll hook it back up and see how it goes.
