Brake pads

So not that I drive like a *ouche but my commute is usually in heavy fast traffic, so i average about 70 but have to slow down every now and then quickly, then traffic speeds back up.

i'm getting some more vibrations and its been 2 years since i had my rotors turned and got midas brake pads. i decided to get brembo blanks, but based on the driving my brakes have to tackle, what kind of pads should i lean towards? ceramic or semi metallic?

Hawk HPS pads. They are the only ones I have found that do not cause rotor issues. Dirty, but worth not having to cut or replace rotors every year.

Carbotech pads! Expensive, but no corrosive dust and awesome braking power!

How about brake lines? I've read some stuff on SS lines from stop tech and Goodrich. Is it worth buying some all around since I'm going to be doing the brakes anyway? Is it a easy job to do?

I replaced the front pads one or two weeks ago. The old ones are nisin(?) brand. The new ones are wagner I bought locally. To my surprise, the square ends on the support back (wagner) are shorter and narrower. I even went back to double check they are the right parts. I don't know if nisin is the stock pads but I think the two brands all work well for daily driving.

Many, many, many threads on this here. Be sure to search.

Lots of Hawk HPS fans here. I personally prefer Akebono ProAct Ceramics with Brembo blanks. I've never had an issue with that setup and I've run it about six times now, on four different vehicles. There are other fans of them here, as well as a few detractors. There's probably consensus the Akebonos dust less than the Hawks; some seem to think the Hawks have much better cold friction than the ProActs.

You can't get Brembo rear rotors. I've had great success with NAPA Ultra Premium, which are Raybestos relabels.

You can upgrade to SS lines. In theory, you will stop faster because you will lock up your brakes a little faster. Your brakes will feel a little less spongy. I wouldn't think the difference to be enough to justify a change if my existing hoses were fine. If I had to replace what I have now, then I might think about it. But if you can lock up your brakes, that's not your limitation. It's your tires. The most cost-effective way to reduce stopping distances is to get grippier tires.

You can get Brembo rear rotors, I'm just talking about 'blanks'

My point for upgrading the lines was to try and do everything possible to avoid the rotors getting warped again. I try to drive as easy on the brakes as possible, but I wanted to do everything else that would help. If lines are solely for stopping, and i think she brakes just fine, then I won't do it

thoughts?

I have hawk HPS pads with Centro rotors. I would not recommend the HPS pads - they perform well enough, but they are unbelievably dirty. I drive a lot of highway - my first set of pads lasted me over 100k because I barely use my brakes. When I clean my wheels, they are dirty again within a day or two. I'm thinking about getting rid of them because I just can't stand the incredible amount of brake dust these things kick up.

My rotors are starting to warp again, but I think that happened when I drove through a puddle in a flood (not ideal, but there was no way around).

Thanks for the lead on those. I run blanks all the time anyhow. Drilled/slotted rotors are a waste of money for 99+ % of drivers anyway.
