Ticking noise under the hood

Hey guys I have this ticking noise that is coming from the drive belt and left side engine area. I don't know if it's the drive belt, pulley or valve problem. I have a video for you guys to have a listen so let me know what you guys think it is. Thanks!

http://youtu.be/hHwJPG_1QaI

BTW I have a 2005 LX V6 with 135,000km

Sounds like valves to me. Valve adjustment?

Here is my story, FWIW.

The tick in your video sounds very similar to the sound my car's engine was making.

I brought it to the local Honda dealership and the service manager eventually claimed it was normal wear and tear.

This was August 2011.

Fast forward to March 2012. I bring the car to a local indy. mechanic to change the oil.

They tell me the sound is in no way normal and guess that it could be the oil lifters.

Two weeks later, I happened to be driving by the dealership that incorrectly diagnosed the origin of the sound, when the check engine light comes on, the engine weakens and something is very clearly wrong with the car, so I pull in and leave it there.

Luckily this was mostly covered by HondaCare, but mine need a new ignition coil and spark plugs.

Whitby Honda quoted me $150 for a valve adjustment on my i4, but he told me if it were a V6 then its near the $500 range. You can leave it if it is the valves, it will just sound rough and could impact fuel economy, but shouldnt cause damage (from what I hear, anyways)

Make sure none of the spark plugs are loose, first of all (bad things can happen if one or more plugs are loose). It really sounds like an exhaust leak to me, but hard to tell from a recording.

I also think sounds like and exhaust leak from the video(I hear air)exhaust leaks usually change as it heats up.Get a stethoscope or a big screw diver, put your ear to it and poke around the motor.I would also go underneath and see it's louder and look at the exhaust bolts and clamps. Also the dive threw or parking close to a wall will magnify the sound. Are all the vac lines and intake hoses on?Did you look at the header bolts and collector?Could be valves but I swear I can hear air as the motor spools down after you give it gas around 0:13.If it's valves you will really hear them with your ear on the screwdriver against the motor

Get a long screwdriver put it at different places on engine and find were the noise is coming from. Put your ear up to the handle end to do this.

That noise sounds very similar to mine back in May--which ended up getting a replacement engine covered under Honda warranty due to a bad coil and plug.

I would get it checked out by the computer and see if any cylinder misfires are reported-ASAP.

You may want to check out this thread:

Hope everything turns out ok.

Thank you for your help. It was a loose spark plug in the front left. Luckily the problem was found early and there were no other problems. Replaced both spark plug and coil.
