Acceleration vibration ???

I've searched and went thru 11 pages ,,,i see some that pertain to my situation ,,but want fresh input..

2005 Accord EX I-4,,103,500 miles...tires have 6000 miles ,,Firestones,,

Vibration occurs under acceleration only ,,doesn't matter if it's from a stop or at speed and you get in the gas ..When you let off gas or reach cruising speed ,,vibe stops ..You feel it in the floor on both sides of car ..CANNOT be felt at all in steering wheel.
No vibe at idle,,motor does not shake..this is only during acceleration while trying to get to cruising speed .
Innova 3160 scanner shows no codes set...Did the tranny drain and fill 3x at 88k,with Honda fluid.

Things done---Had tires rotated and balanced,,firestone said left front tire was bad,,they replaced it under road hazard ..Vibe continues..Brakes were getting thin ,,so yesterday i replaced front rotors and pads ,,no help..Have looked at boots and axles..no torn cv boots ,,nothing seems excessively loose,,but i really don't know how to tell..Did the vacuum test on front motor mount and and test on mount vac control solenoid..All tests good.

How do i tell if a cv joint is bad ??With no signs of leaking fluid or torn boots ?? Vibe does seem more pronounced on rt side floor board than left..

I do 95% of work myself ,,but i don't just want to throw away cash by guessing...

Sorry for long post ,,but wanted to provide as much info as possible.

Thanks,
Erik

I've had bad luck with Firestone. When the wheel weights fell off twice all four wheels. Which caused vibration. Let the dealer balance them and they never fell off again. What model firestones are these?

They are Firestone Affinity Touring. 205/16 . Car has been great with them up til last week.. Wife did say ,,after she left there Friday ( firestone ) after they replaced left front...That it seemed to be gone,,but then after a while, 30 -40 miles ,,it seemed to come back...I did notice ,when i was doing brakes yesterday ,,that there is no balance weight on outside of tire ,but there is one on the inside...All other tires ,have weights on inside and outside....
Guess i might take it back and have them checked again...

I had the Affinity's also. I forget which submodel though. They were 60k tires and I dumped them at 30k miles. After the so called warranty proration each tire ran $93 installed for 15 inchers. So I had some Kelly tires installed.

I'd just have the Honda dealer balance the wheels for around $35. Have them inspect the tires for uneven wear.

It also sounds like the tires to me, I was never a fan of Firestone. I second Satin's suggestion to go to the Honda dealer and have them do the mount/balance - too many horror stories with companies such as Firestone, Jiffy Lube, Pepboys, etc. I don't trust any of 'em anymore. They get these kids working for them fresh out of mechanic's school that either don't know what they're doing, or just don't give a crap - they're there to make their hourly rate and go home.

I went to a local tire shop once to have brand new tires ordered from DTD to be mounted/balanced - they will do 17's for $10/wheel. I actually stood in their garage and watched them do it - b/c if you don't have a window where I can watch you actually doing the work, or allow me back there for something as small as mounting/balancing, then you'll lose my business. Well, while I was standing there, two guys were mounting/balancing wheels for a kid who owned the same Audi A6 I used to have (that's why I remember lol). The guy with my wheels was standing there waiting to use the balancing machine, which caused the other two to feel rushed. I saw them spin the wheel, the balance was FAR OFF from 0, and the two looked around to see if the car owner was there. He wasn't and I overheard them say "EFF IT! Just throw 'em back on the car, man." The owner comes back, gets in his car and drives away.

I gave the guy with my wheels a look letting him know "Don't you even dare try that BS with me." Low and behold, I walked away with perfectly centered/balanced wheels But my point being, you can't always trust people...sadly.

I have an 06 Accord, 4 cylinder, automatic. I had EXACTLY the same problem, it turned out to be the inner CV joints. No torn boots or anything, it was normal wear due to use.

BTW, to confirm that the CV joints were bad, my mechanic had to remove them, and upon inspection he saw that they had considerable wear, which caused the vibration ONLY when accelerating. The parts I bought were 44310-SDA-A00 (inner joints).

Thanks for the replies..It is greatly appreciated...As much as i'd like to blame the tires ,,i can't....mainly due to the fact that it cannot,,at any time ,,be felt in the steering wheel...
Before ,,i had only jacked up one side at a time to inspect stuff and when i did the brakes,,and never could find anything i thought was wrong....Well,last night i jacked the whole front and put it on jackstands,,with both wheels hanging in the air,,it became pretty obivious......The right inner cv joint ,,although no tear in the boot or grease leaking ,,is really ,really sloppy ...Has almost 1/2 inch of up and down play under the boot..Where as the left side inner is rock solid ,,no play at all....
So ,i went this am and bought a reman right axle assy from Honda...Getting some tooling together this afternoon ,,put penetrating oil on all the bolts and spindle nut,,and will change it tomorrow

Well,,that was an exercise in flushing cash down the toilet.....Put the new rt side shaft assy in yesterday...Had it done in just a little over 2 hrs.....Actually was pretty easy to do..
Once everything wwas hooked up and torqued,,,checked the rt inner joint and it was pretty solid...Figured for sure it was fixed.........Took test drive.....Nope !! Same vibration,,while accelerating only....Car still tracks perfectly straight if you let go of whell while its vibrating...Goes away as soon as you let off gas or reach desired speed..

Seems i have 2 choices,,,,take to a shop for troubleshooting and probably deny repair and fix myself..( cant stand the thought of paying someone $100/hr for something i can do )or....go buy a left side shaft and change that ... Don't really know what to do at this point...

While this car is down,,my wife is driving my fully restored, pristine 99 Eddie Bauer Explorer and sometimes my F250 King Ranch deisel,,,that causes me more stress and worry than anything,,,,,I must get this car fixed !!

Did you have your tires rebalanced using a Hunter Roadforce balancer? I would suggest this for the most precise wheel balance. You can locate shops with this equipment via their website.

Didn't someone post awhile back that vibration under acceleration was caused by a broken engine mount? I would check them.

Had already inspected all motor/tranny mounts....Changed left cv axle yesterday and all vibrations gone....So,,with no physical damage to either shaft ,,it was a combo of both..

mama's happy ,,she's got her car back , and i'm happy, she's not driving either of my trucks !!!!

Case closed !!! Thanks for the tips and the help..

Erik
