Improvements for the 13 Accord. Honda may be monitoring

I imagine Honda has a monitor for these forums. I know Chevy does because I have had direct communications with Chevy people via the forum.

I am not starting this as a complaint thread but feel free to list issues or complain. The point is to provide feedback and discussion on improvements that can be made.

1. The LDWS is a great feature but it needs to have a setting to make it louder and/or mute the stereo.

I know it is not a sleep alert, but if you are very inatentive you may never hear the alarm.

I can't think of anything else. I am sure I will eventually

Good idea. Seems like some people say the doors in the new generation don't have as much storage space as the ones for the previous gen.

Also a coin holder for meters?

1. Make XM standard on all trims levels. Why make you have to get the EX-L or above for this.

2. Some people are wondering why the stereo in the Sport model is not so good. I know it is a very good value, but younger people would be interested in the Sport, and 4 speakers isn't going to cut it for many. Make it at least 6 speakers vs the current 4.

3. Make the rear seat back a 60/40 split instead of one piece.

Great idea for this thread seeing we only want the best for future models and trims. I would say improve upon the audio console. Especially the syncing function with Pandora. The syncing gets disabled sometimes and the response time when changing tracks is slow unless it's just Pandora.

Replace the glittery plastic piece around the audio console with a plain black piece of plastic. The glittery piece really looks out of place - not sure what they were thinking there.

Did you notice the same glitter around the shifter?

There is a coin holder under the elbow in the center storage bin- not at all user friendly. I remember my buddy's '78 Accord hatch in college that had a flip down coin box near the left knee-I remember thinking then "what a great idea" having never seen a coin holder in a car before.

Homelink as a standard feature on all models(or at least on EX and EX-L). Stupid you need to the get the V6.

How about driver and passenger knee airbags as well as rear door airbags?

I'll agree, Homelink should be standard on all but perhaps the entry level (EX and Ex-L for certain). They can't blow the price point vis a vis the competition who is still using steel wheels, no Blue tooth and no USB. I am amazed that they are not priced much higher above the competition wih those features standard..

Have you "tried out" the forward collision detection feature yet?

I did (it wasn't my intention to try it ) a red strobe light is activated from just under the windshield that is impossible to miss - no sounds needed!

Here's a pie in the sky feature that I think would be cool.

The center console has a power outlet and a groove in the plastic for a cord so you can plug your car charger into it and charge your phone. The problem with that is there is no place to put your phone unless you sit it in one of the cup holders. Why not have a little slot behind the cup holders that would allow you to slide a phone in for safe keeping while charging?

I like it. My 04 and 12 MDX have the same charge channels with a double storage bin with slots to open one and not the other and not disturb the cords-nice but I use the cup holder for the phone- in fairness, like the Accord, the front power port has a bin to place a phone.

That is one I hope to never try. Volvo developed that and sends a red streak across the windshield along with an alarm- glad to hear the Honda is similar. I do see a yellow HUD light flash upon starting. AFAIK this is the first application for HUD on a Honda. Pontiac/Corvette pioneered HUD for cars about 20+ years ago. I experienced it on a loaner 5 series and it was pretty cool and useful. Only a matter of time before more will use it for speed, warnings, and gauges.

I'd like to see an all wheel drive option. I appreciate that it would add cost and weight (which would reduce fuel efficiency), but Audi, Subaru and Mercedes all have awd cars. The Accura TL and RL have awd as well, so Honda has the technology in place. This would be a great alternative to the Crosstour "albatross". I just don't "get" that vehicle.

In Canada, I think $34,900 for a V6 Touring is pretty reasonable. Adding $2,000 for awd (similar to the added cost on BMW and Mercedes) would be something I'd be prepared to pay.

I'd also like to see a direct injection V6 replace the VCM system. In colder climates, VCM won't activate until the engine and transmissions are almost at normal operating temperatures. The result is poorer fuel mileage than the EPA rating until the engine warms up. It also contributes to vibration at certain rpms (well in our Odyssey, anyway).

I think the corp approach is "You want an AWD Accord, buy an Acura". VW does this with Passat vis a vis Audi for several features not necessarily AWD.

VCM is a joke-get rid of it. My dad's non VCM Ody gets the better MPGs real world as my VCM Ody did. I never broke above the high 24s and he routinely is in the 25s (freeway road trips, no city). My 300 C had a similar system and it was no better than a similar weight Town Car on the highway:25-26 tops.
