Eiko Clearvision Supreme Installed

You be the judge.

One is Eiko, one is stock.

Standard 55W H11 for both. I'll put the other Eiko in tomorrow.

The Eiko's were $27 a pair freeship.

Since I decided after ordering to either go with Touring LEDs or Morimoto HID for the '13 Accord, I put these in my '04 MDX.

Same here bro. I have NEVER done an aftermarket HID. I have owned 10+ cars with stock HID. Touring LED can be had here on the forum for $479. Morimoto HID run $150.

I learned that all stock HID is 4300K which gives the most light output with slight yellow. 5000K is whiter but with slightly less output, 6000K is bluer, and going up to 10000K+ gets to violet with much less output.

I hear people swear by Morimotos and that a halogen projector is not a problem with their HID while some say in general HIDs are prone to scatter when put in halogen projectors.

More research needed. I am not ready to drop $500 on LEDs yet.

You need h11 hid kid. Bulbs that are d1s d2s are for oem the cars that came with hid uses bulbs that are d1s and so on. Make sure to get a heavy relay harness it's a must so you don't experience flickering issue like everyone else.

I swear by morimoto my self. One of the best one out there. Just there bulbs alone are more superior to the other hid kits that cast 50 bucks. Morimoto you pay 150 bucks you get quality and a relay harness.

Do the Touring LED headlights from a 2013 fit on a 2010? I wouldnt think so from the headlight shape from pics I have seen, but I was not sure.

That looks really good. Nice crisp white and appears to be brighter too. What about using H9 bulb to do the H11 to H9 conversion?

^^ One thing I never noticed until I PMd the pic to a member. Look at the second picture. This is a rain shot and look at how white the reflection is off the pavement vis a vis the driver's stock yellow bulb. That is very striking.

I remember when halogens came out in the mid 70s and how "white" they were compared to old sealed beams and now they are yellow.

If the H9-H11 housing is the same it should work. Some bulbs have tabs built in that can be Dremmeled or zip knifed off to fit. Not sure about wattage from H9 to H11.

The MDX shot is without the fogs on. Of note, fogs light up great and are 51W, only 4W shy of the low beam.

My Accord has nearly useless 35W fogs that I converted to yellow. They are so ineffective that I don't even turn them on. I leave them on in the MDX because they actually provide noticeable added light.

Edit: Just looked up the H9. It is 65W and looks to have a tab to block use in the a 55W H11 socket. If you are comfortable adding 10W per side to the harness it might be OK.

Bear in mind, IIRC our Accord has only 60W on the high beam so this low beam will have a higher output than the HB-seems a little wacked. Unless you have Retinitis Pigmentosa, you really should not need a 65W low beam.

I thought you were aware of this mod. The added lumens down the road is a great alternative to HIDz if one can't afford or doesn't want to spend the money on a retrofit. Seeing that these are noticably whiter too would be a win win upgrade.

Yep, a good mod. What is your experience with adding 10W per side re: the harness-seems low enough not to be an issue.

Its really not bad for a bulb, how long would this last though? Its definitely whiter than the stock but is it nice enough to duplicate the warm feeling having the HID??

NO pun intended

Of course not, this bulb is on a beater MDX I use for the snow. It is for illustration purposes only here on the forum. My Accord will be getting the LED Touring lights hopefully next week which should easily match any HID.

The Eiko is said to be great lasting unlike any Silverstar. Just in case, I keep the stock bulbs in bubble wrap ziplocked in the glove box.

I've done it with fog lights in the past. I never did the H11 to H9 conversion. I just purchased bulbs that had more wattage. It was when I was younger and didn't even know the difference. I thought "more wattage more light" When I learned that it could be a problem it was years later. Lucky I still had the truck (02 range rover)I inspected the wires and nothing happened so my guess is a newer car will do fine. They do make upgraded wire harnesses. I learned about these when HIDz were a new thing with regards to adding them to a car that didn't come with HIDz from the factory and were becoming known to melt wires in cars. I purchased a kit for my car and the wire harness. My HIDz still work perfectly in that car to this day. I bought them around 9 years ago. These are the ones I used >>> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nokya-880-88...64ca06&vxp=mtr

I did the same thing for years with many of my cars. I've yet to pop a bulb on my 8th gen accord (fingers crossed) but when I do I'll probably purchase these Eiko bulbs and keep the bulb that didn't blow in the glove box as a spare.

^^^TS, I do the same with spare keys/fob. I use a hidden key magnetic holder and keep the valet key in there and for the expensive fobs, I always bring the spare on any road trip.

Would be a real shame to be stranded 500 miles from home on a Sunday with a lost/malfunctioning key having to go to the dealer on Monday right at about the time I'm supposed to be at work. That spare key in the cabinet at home is of no value in this scenario.

I also turn the main water supply off at home before a road trip. Would be a real shame to have 10,000 gallons of water pouring through the house from a blown washer hose.
