wear sound when starting engine?

sometimes I heard this strange sound when starting the car? Usually happen in the morning when the temperature is low. Do you know what is this? The car is fine, no other problem, except some rattle on the front passenger door. Mine is 08 Lxp I4

Search is your friend . Search for VTC Actuator.

But there is like a million on here about it.

after some googling, i see some people have the problem comes back after the dealer done the TBS; some found car lose power or got other problems; some dealership refuse to fix it (they claim unable to mimic the sound).....

my question:

1. if i leave the VTC actuator alone, will it cause damage over time?
2. if the car dies because the VTC actuator, will the dealership cover it under powertrain warranty?
3. what should i do now? leave it alone or take it to dealer to fix? or trade in the car??

why doesn't honda announce a recall to fix this issue.....damn....

Not trying to be rude but all of your questions can be answered by searching.

Just a friendly reminder.

If your engine kabooms under your power train warranty and the failure is due to the VTC Actuator, then yes.

I would take it to the dealer. Should happen again for them to see it.

A recall probably not. Correct me if I'm wrong DA but aren't most recalls usually done with safety as a main concern?

thank you guys.....

i decide to live with the occasional noise, once the noise gets to a level that i can loundly hear it every time i start the car, i will take the car to the dealership...

i will keep the car before the power train warranty expires, i got 3 more years.....mine is 08 CPO...

The problem that he has is a very valid concern for any K24.

I would not sit idly and go by cascivic's recommendation of "just driving" it...

Get that thing checked out!
