Hood Struts for coupe LX-S, EX, EX-L
Is it possible? I think they should've made it standard on all, not just the EX-L V6

I kind of prefer the manual way. Don't have to worry about replacing the struts down the line.

I already spoke with Paul at College Hills Honda: They tried and it can't be done. The V6 hood has reinforcements to accept the anchors and our lesser cars while thay have predrilled holes, they are not reinforced and the hood will buckle at the attachment point.

You could always add a cheap prop rod if you did not want to put up the coin for new struts in 15 years. I'll take the struts from the "git go" and worry about replacement later-might not have the car long enough to be an issue. My 04 MDX hood and tail struts are still going strong.

My dad's GMC Yukon has springs that work like struts and never fail and never need to be replaced. Wonder why they don't use this design on more cars.

Price, I'd guess. It's only a few dollars for the hood and tailgate struts, but few automakers use either. Unlike hood struts, I find trunk struts quite useful, since there are then no hinge arms to pinch my cargo.

In the beginning, I thought I would do the hood strut upgrade, but in the end is it really worth the cost? With all the OEM parts and fabrication required to make the hood compatible with a strut mounted, the cost is likely between $150-$200? Is it really worth it for something you probably won't use that often?

Same goes for the Homelink kit that College Hills Honda is selling. Nearly $200 dollars for a garage opener button?! That's outrageous and ridiculous.
I found a way to mount my own hidden mini garage door opener that only I and other drivers know how to access and is within convenient reach. Total costs = $19 (price of the remote). |

I did the home link from college Hills. Works great, I agree that at $100 they would sell a ton. I love it and for sure it is way better than my thing dangling from the visor but $184 does leave a sour taste in the mouth.

That's why I haven't done it yet because of the price tag.

two sided 3M "dual Lock" tape - like super velcro _ I use it everywhere
opener taped to inside of driver door pocket - inside edge...
