Got half my stuff in last night to start paint correction on my '07 coupe...

Any tips before I begin?

Drink your favorite beverage of choice when your done. Other than that no one knows your knowledge level/expertise except yourself. Hopefully, you watched and read alot of info online. Theres only so much you can learn from reading about the topic. Hands on experience is key.

For the correction, try a small sample area first to perfect your technique. When satisfied move on to the rest of the car. Those are my two tips and I'm stopping there.

PS: Looks like some nice products you purchased. Post some before/during and after pics if possible.

I will! My other box was delivered today. I'll upload a pic of all my supplies when I'm done. I spent about $400 in products but my rationale was I got quotes from $500-1,500 for someone to do it for me... Why should I pay that when I could do it myself and do it more than one time!

That optimum spray detail-er is really good. I used it once on a previous car. Really glossy

Just a suggestion.........do a trial section with an orange pad and Meg's 105. Multiple passes will definitely be in order. As glen said it may take more muscle but that appears to be the most aggressive combination you have.

I remember a guy on here with a black coupe that wet sanded his car. Of course I think he's a professional detailer. Car looked great. You could see the hints of blue in the paint. He took paint depth measurements.

Edit: Found the link:

I didn't want to spend the money on a paint gauge... I went by a local paint and body shop and had them look at it... It'll be okay if it's not perfect... But anything's better than what it is now...

Plan on getting rid of the car sometime later in the year... I've got Leatherique sitting on the leather overnight tonight... I'll post some pictures when I'm finished tomorrow

I can order some wool pads, though... Didn't want to get a rotary as I'm completely inexperienced with polishing...

SMH... why did I ever volunteer myself to do this??

Anyway... I should've gotten 5.5" pads instead of the 4" ones I got... It took me ALL damn day just to do Megs 105... Granted I had to do 6-8 passes sometimes double that... I still have the roof and front bumper to do, and the rear bumper needs going over again and maybe the hood...

May have to order some more orange pads as the two I bought seem like they're shot...

Anyway... this is what it looks like thus far... What you guys think?

Trunk Before:

Trunk After:

Ordering a larger back plate and more orange pads... Should I go ahead and polish the areas that I know are corrected and leave the other until I get new orange pads?
