Valve lash setting for '06 I4?

Does anyone have the valve lash specifications for a 2006 Accord EX 4 cylinder?

There is not a sticker under my hood showing the valve lash spec so when I set the lash last week I used .009" for the intake and .011" for the exhaust. Since setting the lash the valve seating sounds louder, the engine seems down on power, and the fuel consumption may have increased. In my experience, all of these symptoms are indicative of too much lash (late valve opening and early valve closing; valve events not on the opening and closing ramps on the cam lobes).

Intake (0.008-0.010")
Exhaust (0.011-0.013")

From page 6-10 of the Honda Service Manual.

Seems you are pretty much on the money on the seetings.

Did you set the lash on a cold engine? The valve lash specs are based on cold..

How many valves did you adjust. You should set them to the middle of the spec. It has already been said, but the adjustments are with a cold engine.I have a 2006 EX-L i4 with 203,000 miles, and when I did my valve adjustment only one was out of spec. I also did another 2006 EX-L i4 with 190,000 miles, and only had 2 valves out of spec. Make sure your timing marks are lined up,timing chain and pulleys. Take your time doing this,I would rather take my time then have to do it twice.

I set all of the valves on a cold engine. It seemed like they were all very tight to begin with.

If you increased the clearance on all the "tight" valves it will make them louder because of the extra space. Generally the intake valves will get looser with age (mileage) while the exhaust valves get tighter. I really doubt the increased clearance to factory spec will reduce your mileage or power tho.
The cold engine requirement means sitting overnight cold not just cold on the temp gage.
Did you try to measure the original valve clearance?

On the older accords I used to own, there were many... I used to adjust the valves
Every 15k miles.. that's what they recommended.. very rarely did I actually have to adjust them.. it takes a certain feel to get the lash clearance correct.. make sure you have a good feeler gauge that's not bending and causing you to get an incorrect reading..

Thanks for the spec and the thoughts on whether or not I should expect to need to adjust the lash. I think I'll just check the lash next weekend to see if I missed anything.

I just did mine a couple of weeks ago. At 98K miles, what I found was about half of the intake valves slight loose (at the edge of the spec.) and all of the exhaust valves tight (out of spec.).

After adjustment I noticed a definite impovement in responsiveness at part throttle, especially at the lower rpms.

As far as the noise goes, it didn't help one bit. I guess it really is piston slap.

Take a pair of micrometers and set them to the spec you want.Next take the feeler gauge and put it through the mic.You are trying to get the feel of what it should feel like on the engine.
