USB Music

How does the USB thumb drive music show up? (folder or album/artist)

Also, did someone try using a thumb drive with a large collection (a couple of 100's - both folders/albums)? I am hoping that I can dump my entire music collection onto a thumb drive and leave it in the USB slot. How convenient is it to browse such a large collection?

It shows up like a list of folders. I only have 3 folders, each contains about couple 100s songs. So far I have no problem navigating through them all. random/repeat in each folder ... random/repeat in all folders .... I mean every basic feature is there. Again, the manual has good example of how the USB interface works.

It shows up like a lot of after market HUs. It reminded me of the JVC HU I had in my 10, but bigger. I already had my USB drive set up right for this. The only problem is, this car does not play WAV files, only the most common files around! I am trying to find a program for ACC since they say it is better in sound than MP3s.

The album art shows up, but given the size of the screen, it should be easily twice the size. It is small. I will keep looking into the book to see if I can increase the size. No need for after market for presentation or features, you just need better speakers and/or an amp. I am going for speakers first, then I might find a Honda amp (for simplicity) and a sub some place.

I have the exl v6 and the music sounds good if I set the bass to 4 and treb to 3 and sub at 3.
Agreed with you the sub is lousy. I am going to install a soundstream powered sub under the passenger's seat this weekend. I'll replace the two front speakers if the sound still needs help afterward.

Nobody is really answering the question.

The system was engineered by Pioneer, so if you have had any Pioneer car audio systems in the past you might understand it. Any folders that contain MP3/AAC on the usb stick are listed sorted by date modified. This means that they're not even in alphabetical order and since it's the actual folder the music is stored in, it could be whatever you named it (usually an Album name, if that's what you've done).

Best way to fix it is to rename the folders to list Artist and Album, then use a free tool called DriveSort to sort the folders alphabetically (it basically changes the date modified to match the alphabetical order). It works wonderfully.

Any suggestions on the best USB drive available in the market which allows to close the lid?

Alternate:
Amazon Amazon
Might need to break the projection if required.

In some other thread here, none are short enough, the shortest of the short can be trimmed, and the door still is ajar.

I currently have a 32 Gb stick , 89 cds, each in its own folder. Whatever you call the folder on your PC/MAC, you will see that on the folder list in the car. Very simple.

The best flashdrive in terms of looks is the Kingston DTSE9. It's 16G and looks like it is machined from a chunk of solid titanium. Its only flaw is that it has no cap. Best price is $10 +$4 S&H at Newegg.

I went with this (

) one. It's t-i-n-y and the USB door almost closes completely.

Wow, I concede that this may own the title as the winner for the Accord. The Kingston does protrude out about an inch, raising concerns about getting bent in the slot when getting a car wash (the one I use cleans the interior). And the door being mostly closed seems better. I'll order one, and use the Kingston as a keychain FD.

It's also junk. I bought one and it was dead within a month. They get *very* warm when in use, and after a certain amount of time it seems like the internal structure gets damaged in an irreparable way, leaving the stick useless.

I usually use a Corsair Survivor. It's a 32GB USB3.0 stick with an aluminum casing and another aluminum external casing. When you screw it shut it's downright indestructible.
