As the title states,
How often, if ever, should you change your coil springs? It is under debate between a friend of mine, who thinks it's apart of a 50k maintenance. As a little background info, this conversion started from me noticing a squeak from my rear passenger side coil spring nearly every time I hit a bump in the road. I'm try to figure out if I should have the springs replaced or just go ahead and upgrade to Tein coilovers and lower Thoughts and comments please.

Your shocks might be slightly worn at 50K but your springs are fine. They will last the life of the car. I have never heard of anyone replacing their springs because they were worn out.

Good till basically they rust through and break. It's not the spring making noise it's something touching it or attached te the arms most likely

Well, I'm sure you really don't have to replace them but... when I replaced both shocks and springs on my Z at 115k miles it was a whole new beast. Granted I did replace with performance springs and shocks. The Z31 cars were notorious for sagging in the rear due to worn out springs. So contrary to what others are saying, on some cars it is a good idea to replace the springs.

found the noise to be my muffler, a little bit of rubber padding and no more squeak!
