Seat mod for better leg support (+ install pics & details)

I'm 6' 1" and my girlfriend is 5' 10" so we need leg support which we don't have enough of in the Accord Sport.

Finally got a chance to get the car in the shop this afternoon to look at it.

What started as a test build ended up staying on the car as it works perfectly and gave me the additional support I needed, and then some...

Once welded, I painted the bracket satin black including the bolts and washers. As it sits in the car right now, it's almost impossible to notice unless you bring the seat back all the way and even then you'd have to look closely to notice it. The only thing you might see under normal conditions is the gap between the seat rail and the floor. But with everything down there being black, again very hard to see... Note that it wasn't designed to be pretty, my main objective was solidity.

Everything is in the pics. If you have any questions, post away here so people can benefit from it.

BTW, what a difference in comfort. It feels like a completely different seat now. Pretty impressive for an almost zero $ mod!

Cheers.

Seat mod for better leg support (+ install details)

Awesome job

Did you do driver and passenger as well?
What exactly did you accomplish? Height increase? Tilt angle? Forward back?
The passenger seat in our four door EXL sedans are horribly angled.
Thanks

Thx.

This mod is to increase the angle of the seat which gives you better leg support at the front.

I'm doing the passenger seat tomorrow.

BTW, unless you drive with the seat completely back, once the seat is pulled forward in an "average" position, the seat bottom completely hide the FW seat bracket and riser.

congrads man, you read my mind, or great minds think alike, lol whatever fits better.
I was gonna do the same thing even posted this idea in this thread, you even used 3 tick bolt like I had planed.
however you found even simpler solution, i was gonna fabricate it, from scratch.

here is the drawing i did before, in 2012. in this thread

however i got used to my seats and don't feel like i need this anymore, but first month it was really not comfortable. i,m 6'4.

nice work man, glad someone did it,

Yep. Same principle You have much better drawing skills than me!

Actually, it's about the only way to raise that seat simply I think.

I decided to tap the hole and use a short bolt because it looked cleaner imho.

Let us know how the passenger seat goes
I have been in contact with a company in CA to fabricate brackets for our cars.
You can probably sell sets on here if you wanted to.
Thanks again.

I have been in contact as well.

Great work lockeed- this is a big issue for me. How high did you raise it.

MyEx-L driver seat raises up and angles so I'll be doing passenger only.

I raised just over 1".

For the taller people out there, do yourself a favor and do this mod. Or at least sit in someone elses Accord that's been raised.

You won't believe how much of a difference it makes. Just 1/2" makes a huge difference in comfort. I now have to drop my seat adjustment to be spot on which is great!

Couple guys already asked me to fabricate riser brackets for them so I'll see what I can do... Not a lot of free time at the moment... But if I have all the material to do a quick batch, I might do it.

I'll post it here...

I'm 6'4" tall, would this mod help me some?? Looks like it would angle it more comfortably?

You definitely have a willing customer here. I would try to duplicate your work on my own but do not have the shop tools to get it done.
Please keep us in the loop.

Good luck and thanks again.

lol. Like you wouldn't believe.

Again, even if it's just 1/2", it makes a huge difference.

thank god i have the sport seats with tilt adjustment.
my brother in law just sat in my car for 1 hour trip each way (riverside to anaheim stadium for monster jam lol)
he's about 6 foot. i forgot to ask if he was uncomfortable. he didnt mention it, but did comment on how nice the accord is (he has a '13 lancer evolution).

anyway... i'll ask him this weekend and maybe i'll do this mod for passenger side. maybe.
nice work lockeed!

What kind of bracket? I'd like to get some kind of extension that would allow me to move the seat further back, ideally 2"-3", but I'd take anything to allow my legs more breathing room.
