License plate bolt size
Does anyone know the proper size for the rear license plate mount? Previous generations uses a #40 (according to the search function) but I haven't seen anything on the 9th gen.
Thanks! Chunk |

![]() It is definitely NOT a 10mm thread diameter. Snark really is unnecessary, especially when someone asks for help. Isn't that what the forum is supposed to be about?

He was asking for the size of the bolt....about 0.035"....not the size of the head/wrench size. That was obvious from the #40 reference.

The rear plate is held on by 5x16 mm self tapping screws.

Hypocrisy at its finest below in bold font. No knowledge gained if it was already known to me. OP wasn't too specific on his question and the 10mm answer by "Davidt" sufficed otherwise the OP would've clarified that the question was not about the head.

There is a reason why no one asks questions like "how do I adjust the OEM seats to make it more comfortable for me?"Speaking of wasting server space, I'm going to stop... If you'd like to try and prove your point, PM me. |

Actually it didn't suffice, because he mentioned he could not eyeball the length, diameter,etc...
But I guess you could have just scrolled up and read that yourself. Just scroll up one response, and if that's not it, go up another... Same as if you started at the top and scrolled down. Great way to welcome a fairly new member, by making them regret even asking.

License plate bolt size
I agree with KMH. Why greet a new member with a "Figure it out yourself, dummy!" response? Kinda like how some greet new members with "Ever heard of the search function?" Must be a lonely life for some of you folks. As far as I'm concerned, the only question that is stupid is the one that isn't asked. We all have different experiences and areas of expertise and the only way to pool that knowledge is through questions and open conversations. By the way, the novel Moby Dick (about 1000 pages) takes up a whopping 2 megabytes of storage space. I don't think asking a few frivolent questions here and there is going to clog up a server with LAN-equivalent bandwidth and terabytes of storage. Now everyone play nice and quit with the trolling. If you had a bad day, talk about it in "The Pit". Otherwise, leave the attitude behind.
