How is maintenance for Hood bra/mask?

To all of you who have used a traditional PVC/leather hood mask, how is maintenance? I know it must be removed when washing to prevent trapping soap, what about after a rain; or is it more feasible to simply remove the piece once every two weeks or so to clean underneath? I wash my car every week on average, so this likely won't be an issue, but I was curious about leaving it on in rainy weather for a few days until the next wash. Also how noticeable is paint fade difference? My car is CBP which will show fading differences easier than a lighter color, although I work at night and during the day the car is shaded by two trees.

Thanks for your input!

It will eventually scratch your paint.

Get clear paint protection film instead.

I'm getting this for the appearance, not for paint protection.

Any with personal experiences?
