  1. Flashing Check Engine Light in 2013 Honda Accord Coupe

    Problems & Solutions
What did the original plug #2 look like when you removed it?
  2. 08 Coolant and Transmission Fluid Shake

    The 8th Generation
You know what? It may sound like/seem like a lot of money for trans oil and coolant, but, it sure as heck beats a car payment.
  3. What's your repair cost threshold for your 8th gen?

    The 8th Generation
Spending the money on the service will, in the long run, be the best way to help you save for that house. I recently found I had a seperated tread on one of my tires. Talked it over with the wife. She said if I put new tires on I had to commit to keeping the car at least two more years. It's an...
  4. Got VCM questions; VCMTuner vs VCMuzzler II?

    The 8th Generation
OK, got my S-VCM in the mail yesterday and installed it this morning. I found snapping a picture of the connector before trying to undo it helped as it showed me what I needed to push to get it to release. Came off first try with no effort at all. Got it all in and tied down with zip ties in...
  5. Got VCM questions; VCMTuner vs VCMuzzler II?

    The 8th Generation
I just ordered the S-VCM so we shall see what develops now. I'll keep you all posted once I get it installed and get some miles on it.
  6. Got VCM questions; VCMTuner vs VCMuzzler II?

    The 8th Generation
I've been reading this thread and am on the fence about disabling my VCM. I had a CEL which I discuss in this thread: https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/2011-v-6-auto-check-engine-light-vsa.544557/ Since that time I've been enjoying the car a lot more as it had had a slow digression of its...
  7. What do you think regular maintenance on an A/C system should be? Now it is acting up.

    The 8th Generation
I think T-RD has it pegged. I'll look at switching the relays around and see if that helps any. I guess I should have mentioned that since I retired, the car may sit unused for up to 3 weeks at a time, in a garage that this past summer has seen temps reach well over 110* inside. Not a good thing...
  8. What do you think regular maintenance on an A/C system should be? Now it is acting up.

    The 8th Generation
Yes, it has been refilled properly. I asked him about the relay and he said relays are either good or bad, no 'in between'. Like I said, today just doesn't seem to be hot enough out to get the car super heat saturated like it was on Friday when I went out to LV. Nothing like driving 70 mph for...
  9. What do you think regular maintenance on an A/C system should be? Now it is acting up.

    The 8th Generation
Wow. Certainly not the type of reply I would expect from a Super Moderator. First off let me just say I let few, if any mechanics under my hood. This shop impressed me with their ethics when I had my smog cert done earlier this year. Your impuning their ethics without even knowing them is beyond...
  10. What do you think regular maintenance on an A/C system should be? Now it is acting up.

    The 8th Generation
Overview: Was going to go to Las Vegas last weekend so decided to have the A/C system recharged since it was going to be 100*+ most of the time I was planning on being there. Took it to a good Indy shop and they hooked it up to their Snap-On machine. Did the evac, pumped it down for 45 minutes...
  11. What do you think regular maintenance on an A/C system should be? Now it is acting up.

    The 8th Generation
Reason I ask is, I usually just set the temp at 72* and forget about it. Did that on my '02 V-6 sedan for 9 years and had no real complaints to speak of. Fast forward to yesterday when I had my '11's system recharged. The Snap-On recovery system said it was almost out of freon and was very low...
  12. 2011 V-6 auto Check engine light & VSA

    The 8th Generation
Thought I'd update this thread just to let you all know how the car is running since this problem reared its head. FANTASTIC! I've made a number of trips up to the SLO/Attascadero area and it has been doing great. Here is another shot of my computer readout on my last trip north. This shows...

  15. Best time to buy? Questions about negotiating for 10G Accord, HondaCare, accessories

    The 10th Generation
My experience has been that most dealers won't get down to brass tacks unless you're there in person, or you layout your plans on how you're going to go about buying the car in great detail in an email. I would get my own financing first, if not paying cash. If you want to take the time to find...
  16. Regretful purchase on my first Honda Accord (2017 Sedan)

    The 9th Generation
I won't bore you guys with the tale of my mini van experiences. Suffice it to say, a happy wife is a lot easier to live with.
  17. Regretful purchase on my first Honda Accord (2017 Sedan)

    The 9th Generation
Ah, you're gaining what us old guys call 'EXPERIENCE'. Look at it this way. You've got yourself a good car that should last you a long time with very little maintenance other than gas and oil, maybe a set or two or tires. Think of it as a blank canvas to make it your own.
  18. Advice on how to proceed on 2012 V6 cyl misfire

    The 8th Generation
I like the idea of changing the coil pack on the #3 plug, but, I totally disagree with your statement about it being too early to change the plugs. Check out my thread on what I found when I had a CEL with a mis-fire code...
  19. What's the tire pressure of your car?

    Wheels, Suspension & Brakes
Just remember, the sticker in the door jamb is only the factory's reco for the air pressure that gives the best ride from a NVH (noise-vibration-harshness) standpoint. It does not necessarily equate to what the best pressure is for the tires to get the maximum life out of them. I run my tires...
  20. Surprising gas mileage

    The 9th Generation
Here is what I did on Tuesday morning of the this week. That is leaving home, battling rush hour traffic, then stopping for gas in Buelton CA. It's an old car but is running just fine.
