  1. No Start No Crank

    The 7th Generation
Where did you get the starter? I ask that because a friend recently changed the starter on his Acura TL with a "brand new" one from rockauto and it ended up not starting AT ALL. It was a bad rebuilt starter. The whining sound is possibly the pinion gear just spinning inside the casing and not...
  2. So what did you do to your 7th gen today?

    The 7th Generation
I had no issue doing this job at home, you just need the right tools. I popped the ball joint in minutes.
  3. My 07 EX V6 is getting horrid mpg

    The 7th Generation
Must be a brand that thinks you need them. Or it's a 03-05 and 06-07 difference. I used OEM and Hawk HPS pads on my 07 V6, the hardware kit doesn't ever come with V springs. The OEM pads don't even have holes to install the springs. Regardless, that's not the issue with the poster's 15mpg...
  4. My 07 EX V6 is getting horrid mpg

    The 7th Generation
Those are springs to spread out the pads, they are not present on 7th gen Accords. They started appearing on 8th gen Accord's rear brakes because there was a problem EBD, or electronic brake distribution. There was even a bulletin for it. The key to not having the rear brakes drag is in the...
  5. 2010 VCM Help! P3400, P3497, P0430

    The 8th Generation
You need to disable VCM using VCMuzzler II. VCM does nothing good other than harm on these engines. Just do a search on the internet, everyone is disabling it. If you can still rescue it, the oil burning will stop and rings around the rear 3 pistons won't get stuck and you are good to go.
  6. RV6 Precat Delete O2 simulator rust

    The 8th Generation
I did the bank 2 O2 sensors on my 07 V6 Accord recently. You don't need to remove the cats to get them off but it will take some effort. I removed the rear when I went to reseal the oil pump with the whole exhaust system dropped out. If the exhaust isn't off, the rear one is hard to get to...
  7. Rubbing/Bearing/Belt Kind Noise from Passenger Side Engine

    The 7th Generation
I would check the back surface of the idler pulley and both the oil pump and water pump's mating surfaces thoroughly. And you torqued the idler pulley and the side engine mount bracket to 33 ft-lb correctly? I suppose I'm lucky this time around, once I switched back to OEM, it's all good, even...
  8. So what did you do to your 7th gen today?

    The 7th Generation
Start a thread if you need help on this. I replaced the inner tie rods on both sides 2 years ago.
  9. What is wrong here? Could just be the waterpump gasket, coolant leaking

    The 7th Generation
From the thread here about failed Gates water pumps, https://acurazine.com/forums/third-generation-tl-2004-2008-93/psa-dont-buy-gates-water-pumps-933810/page2/ Yours was failing, it was not the gasket.
  10. What is wrong here? Could just be the waterpump gasket, coolant leaking

    The 7th Generation
Aisin has not made water pumps for Honda's since between 2003 to 2005, i can't be sure of the year. After 2006, Yamada Japan has been the manufacturer of the water pump of all J series engines. That is the water pump with the eagle embossed on it. Aisin water pump used to say "Honda Aisin"...
  11. Rubbing/Bearing/Belt Kind Noise from Passenger Side Engine

    The 7th Generation
That is the hydraulic tensioner not holding tension on the tensioner pulley for the timing belt. This has been well documented on odyclub.com . The belt isn't going to come off but the noise comes from the tensioner plunger bouncing. Where did you get the OEM timing belt components and are...
  12. My 07 EX V6 is getting horrid mpg

    The 7th Generation
You should NEVER get 15mpg, if you get on it frequently. The worst I get is 24 mpg during the Chicago winters and that's if I idle a lot driving in snow. Get all those simple items you haven't done out of the way, remove the speakers, then report back the newer mpg number. It's pretty that...
  13. My 07 EX V6 is getting horrid mpg

    The 7th Generation
I'm getting 29 to 32 mpg regularly on my 308k miles 07 Accord V6. Detail what you've done, if anything at all, maintenance-wise.
  14. 05 accord ps noise

    The 7th Generation
I once bought a rebuilt pump that's silent, but stiff steering at idle. That o-ring doesn't fix everything, it's the first thing to change, but you should change the fluid also.
  15. 05 accord ps noise

    The 7th Generation
You have a problem with the pump or simply dirty fluid, if steering wheel is hard to turn at idle. I suggest you changing the fluid first. If that doesn't help, move on to rebuilding or replacing the power steering pump. The noise is due to old o-ring on the low pressure side hose as stated...
  16. What is wrong here? Could just be the waterpump gasket, coolant leaking

    The 7th Generation
OEM water pump only, you won't have to look at it for another 100k miles. I used Aisin for 100k miles before, and even that, the bearing started going. I still have the first OEM Yamada water pump from 8 years ago, it actually still turns fine without noise.
  17. What is wrong here? Could just be the waterpump gasket, coolant leaking

    The 7th Generation
If you torqued the 5 bolts for the water pump to 8.7 ft-lb with an 1/4" drive low rating torque wrench properly, then that's the water pump's bearing failing, hence the coolant leak out of the weep hole. That's an aftermarket water pump. Do you see a print on the middle driveshaft area of the...
  18. Looking at 07 Accord EX-L V6

    The 7th Generation
Check for: Engine: power steering pump leak front valve cover oil leak oil pump leak, right below the serpentine belt auto tensioner VTEC solenoid leak, right above the oil filter cylinder #5 spark plug and make sure it's not loose Transmission: - Transmission fluid's condition, should be...
  19. accident -Insurance or self fix?

    The 9th Generation
Touch-up paint, done. If you take it to a body shop and have it repaint, the paint quality will never be the same again, just from fixing those tiny areas. I had my front bumper repainted once and the paint quality is not up to par with factory's. I suggest you touch-up paint the area and...
  20. Rack Guide Adjustment

    The 7th Generation
Your issue sounds like brake problems, not steering related whatsoever, because the sound is more pronounced when braking. Have you gotten that checked? I've never had rack pinion clunk, the only possibilities are from the inner and outer tie rods, most likely outer rod because it's exposed to...
