lid

I have a 1997 Accord DX. One of the trunk tension rod spring rods broke so the trunk lid will not stay up. The dealer said this part is discontinued and not available. Checked with several junk yards and none have it. Does anyone know of a jury rig to fix this problem OTHER than using a broomstick?
