Forum Rules and Regulations

The following Rules and Regulations are ban-able offenses warranting an Account Suspension. Please read them. Any violation of these rules will be taken very seriously.

Derogatory, inflammatory, blatantly false, misleading, and/or nonsensical posts intended to cause a forum disruption and to provoke other members (i.e. Trolling) will not be tolerated. Threads or posts will be removed without notice.

Generally, a 1st offense will result in a "Troll" warning, while a 2nd offense will result in an account suspension. Serious offenses will result in an immediate and permanent ban.

Creating a 2nd account is grounds for a permanent account ban, of all registered accounts, either while actively registered under another account, or after having a previous account suspended or banned. Further disruption of forum activity by creation of duplicate accounts may result in legal action against the offender.

Sharing an account with another member may result in a warning, infraction, or account suspension.

Threads, posts, messages, or signatures that refer, mention, or link members to other (competing) Accord sites may be removed without notice. Accounts found in violation of this rule may be issued an infraction, suspended or banned.

Threads or posts that contain unapproved advertisements or advertisement "spamming" will be removed without notice. This includes posts that contain affiliate links and similar types of revenue generating links. Accounts associated with these posts will be suspended or banned.

DO NOT go into a vendor's/sponsor's thread to crap on the vendor/sponsor or the product/service being offered. DO NOT go into these threads to mention a competing product or attempt to redirect traffic away from the vendor/sponsor either. Anyone caught doing so will be issued an infraction. Those who continue to violate this rule after being warned/issued an infraction will be suspended or permanently banned.

Any thread or post that advertises or promotes your products and/or services will be removed without notice unless you are an approved vendor/sponsor.

At our discretion, any thread or post that appears to be a promotion for your YouTube, Instagram, or other Social Media account/channel will be removed without notice, and accounts associated with these posts may be suspended or banned as this is considered spamming and an abuse of our services. Do not use DriveAccord to try to become a Social Media star/influence or to gain followers.

General Forum Rules

Violation of the General Forum Rules will result in immediate thread and/or post removal. The violators will be cited an infraction for violating the general forum rule. Multiple offenses will result in temporary or permanent account suspension.

Street racing/speeding is stupid and is an illegal activity and is not condoned by DriveAccord.net. Unless you can provide proof that the racing/speeding was conducted on a closed track (i.e. time slips) or officially sanctioned track or race event, threads or posts that discuss or show racing/speeding (street or otherwise) will be closed or removed without notice.

No nudity or pornography. Threads or posts containing nudity or pornography will not be tolerated. This includes pictures or links. These threads or posts will be removed without notice.

No threads or posts with distasteful sexually oriented discussions will be tolerated. These threads or posts will be removed without notice.

No threads or posts that are hateful or threatening toward any member, group, race, religion or nationality will be tolerated. These threads or posts will be removed without notice.

No bashing of other message boards or forums will be tolerated. These threads or posts will be edited or removed without notice.

No personal attacks in any form will be tolerated. These threads or posts will be removed without notice and the Offender will be cited an infraction.

No threads or posts that directly insult any other DriveAccord member will be tolerated. These threads or posts will be removed without notice.

No threads or posts that entice or bait members to bash or flame others will be tolerated. These threads or posts will be edited or removed without notice.

No posts or threads that crap on/attack a site vendor or try to divert business away from them. These threads or posts will be edited or removed without notice.

Double postings is not acceptable. Any of these threads or posts will be removed without notice.

Spamming/advertising on the forum(s) is not acceptable. Any of these threads or posts will be removed without notice. If you want to advertise for your business here, you need to contact the site administrator for permission first or become a site sponsor/vendor. No exceptions.

No threads or posts containing software, or products obtained from illegal means, or that you don’t legally have a right to re-distribute may be posted. These threads or posts will be removed without notice. This includes threads or posts regarding how to obtain software illegally.

No threads or posts that involve disabling mandatory safety devices or their associated components will be tolerated and will be locked/deleted without notice.

Infractions and the Point System

Ignorance of these rules is not acceptable or an excuse. If you break the rules and we call you on it, we do not want to hear any whining.

Failure to comply by these rules may result in a warning, infraction, temporary suspension, or permanent account ban.

Infraction points may be given by the site staff for breaking the rules, if you receive 3 infraction points, your account will be deleted.

DriveAccord.net is operated as a board viewable by all ages; in other words, we fall in between G and PG rated. If you feel you cannot comply with the rules we have stated here, then DriveAccord.net is not the place for you. There are other sites out there that do allow the stuff that we do not. Feel free to visit them if you cannot follow our rules, or start up your own forum.

Forum Rules Regarding Group-Buys/Gauging Interest/Feeler Threads/Bulk Sales/Promoting Business

Do not mention anything about a group buy or bulk sales or product unless you are an approved DriveAccord site vendor/sponsor or have explicit permission from a site Administrator or Moderator.

Any mention of a group-buy or bulk sales, whether to gauge interest (a.k.a. "feeler") or how to start one, is strictly prohibited without the consent of the site owner or a moderator and will be deleted without warning.

Any thread or post to promote your business or product offerings without first becoming a site vendor/sponsor is prohibited without the consent of the site owner or a moderator.

If you would like to become a vendor/sponsor, please contact sales[at]autoguide.com

Unapproved group-buys take business away from our wonderful sponsors and creates an unfair playing field.

If you want the members of this site to support your business, then you should in turn support this site and its members by signing up as a site vendor/sponsor.

If you're looking to gauge interest before becoming a vendor/sponsor/, consider the sponsorship fee a part of doing business (i.e. advertising cost).

CarFax / VIN Look-up Rules

Requesting, sharing or selling CarFax, Autocheck or similar reports/info and memberships with another party is a violation of their terms of use. Any posts, requests, or offers for such will be deleted without notice.

Classified Rules

The policy, rules, and guidelines for selling on DriveAccord, as well as the minimum requirements to do so, can be found in the Classified Rules.

DA Members,

These rules are in place and will be enforced by all DriveAccord.net Moderating staff. They were discussed at length by the moderators and this is what we came up with. Please PM a moderator if you have something you'd like to add to the list of rules for the forum.

Very Respectfully,

Your DA Moderating Staff

Yes, they're new rules.... effective immediately.

Things have gotten a bit out of control, so hopefully these rules will put a stop to the issues.

Drive Accord is growing, and as more people frequent the site there will undoubtedly be more issues. With that said, DA is a family-oriented site and these rules were developed to keep it that way.

Great compilation of posting etiquette!

I *personally* feel the one-strike and you're out (ie. suspended, not banned unless the particular infraction is blatantly egregious and warrants it) works most effectively as a deterrent.

Why give a warning after-the-fact once the damage/insult/personal-attack has already been done!?!

On every-other auto-enthusiast forum that I am a member of and frequent regularly, an immediate suspension (ie. temporary ban) is applied at the FIRST instance of rules violations (regarding 'personal attacks' from the list in the original post in this thread).

As stated in the second posting of this thread, these rules were discussed at length by the mod's. We feel that these rules are fair to all of the members of DA. As DA isn't another cookie cutter auto forum and these rules show that.

All of these "rules" or in my opinion, good etiquette have been regularly enforced, it's time to formalize them to all the members as a heads-up so no one can claim ignorance and act surprised when these rules come in play.

Surprisingly enough many of the rules are being broken on a daily basis.

I still don't understand how you are going to find out whether or not someone has created a second account once banned. People here could have 10 accounts for all we know.

Nah, man. The mods' here do a damn fine job of keeping this place tip-top!

Though, I feel the whip needs to be cracked harder & more often in certain instances... however, this is a *personal* opinion.

The administrator of the site has a log of I.P.'s used by a particular member whenever they log-on. So, if the I.P. of a recently banned/suspended member all of a sudden reappears w/ a newly registered member... voila!

That is true....and guess what....the ones we catch will be the quickest ones banned from this site after 3 warnings.

The rules are here so people know why their friends may one day disappear if they continue the poor behavior.

Steven,

It would be wise to describe here how to report a post to moderators. I just recently found out about the icon at the top right of posts and I've been here a while. Once clicked it opens a dialog box to type in......what do you want there? Is it necessary to include a link to the offending thread? In short help us to help you guys (and gal:) ) to moderate by explaining exactly what to do and it should be made a sticky.

This is a great idea and thank you for suggesting it! I hope this helps those who want to help us mods out!

The rules are very reasonable IMO. Some of us may have differing opinions (agree to disagree) from time to time, but there is no need to be nasty to one another. Kudos to the moderators!

LMAO

I find it funny. The more rules imposed on the human animal the worse he/she acts.
