I have banned Michael_Mansion for a week, due to general disrespect for the forum, its rules, its mods and its members. Although he does have 10 posts necessary to post in Classifieds, they seem to be 10 posts made just to sell his wares. The time will allow us to further clarify and discuss the Classifieds section rules.

Wonderful discussion! I agree 100% with the Mods in that the benefits far outweigh the risks in requiring some form of 'minimum contribution' before allowing classified posts. I am not a vet of this site by any means, but this is the first time I have even visited the classified section in almost 200 posts.

This forum is (and should remain) knowledge based, not consumer based!

There was a spam early this morning, 1st post and selling all kinds of cell phones.

For those who have recently complained about this rule, would you want to tolerate that kind of crap? I wouldn't, it just made my blood boil!

I forwarded the link to Inspector 1 and he has already deleted the post.

HINT: We also have another rule that says useless posts don't count towards the minimum post count requirement.

A slight revision to the Classified Rules has been made.

In addition to the minimum 10 post requirement, you also need to have been a participating member for at least 15 days (i.e. at least 15 days have passed since your first post) before you can mention or post something for sale or trade.

Too many people registering, making 10 posts, posting something for sale, and then leaving.

The ability to post something for sale or trade is a privilege for participating members only.

I have no problem with making the post requirement higher...

Personally, I'd like to make it a 30/30 requirement. 30 posts and 30 days member.

But for now, it'll be a 10 post minimum with a 30 day wait requirement.

I appreciate the classifieds rules. I don't even look at classifieds on other sites unless they have a high post count, I also look to see if they've sold anything else by looking at all the threads they've made, and googling their username/other information to find them on other forums.

Worked for VTECaddict, and his background "report" turned up great.
