Hondas have good resale so it’s very tricky purchasing a 1-2 year old model.

$23,000 is a fair price... but you can probably get a 2020 with zero miles for app. $27,500. New seems like a no brainer to me.

Haven't seen many posts about 2020 model purchases. I'm shopping for a 2020 touring 2.0 in San Diego. Best pricing I've got so far is $35,150 OTD. Thoughts?

That would be a fair price... but I doubt you’ll walk out of there at $35,010. I would ask for an itemized breakdown first.

Thanks - so if I can get that walking out, I should take it? I did an average for the last 10 2019 2.0 tourings in the price paid thread and it came out at $34,896.57 - thinking I don't have much more wiggle room especially for a 2020, not interested in dragging this out for a few hundred less.

By my calculation (assuming $3,000 for San Diego sales tax and CA registration), you are at least $5,000 off MSRP. Last week of the year is a great time to buy a car... but, without the breakdown, it’s hard to tell if you have more wiggle room.

You must live in a bad place if you get that many dents to make this worthwhile. I have $0 deductible on my comprehensive insurance which covers dent removal. Doesn't cost me anywhere close to $600 over 7 years to have this lowest cost deductible.

You overpaid by $3,000-4,000. I can go to my local dealer and pay $1,000 more and get a 2020 model.

Looking at buying a light silver 2019 touring. I found these small cuts of the rubber seal above the window (They claim it wasn't hailed on, should I be concerned) They are saying they would do $30,500 if I buy in 2019 or $31k in 2020. My thought is saving to pay personal property tax at the end of 2020 and waiting till the end of 2021. It currently has 4,600 miles on it as a program car for the local Honda dealer. Thoughts?

I know I can get a brand new 2019 sport 2.0T auto for $28.5K out the door.

Thanks,

Joe

Waiting until the end of 2021 means you get to see what updates/changes the Accord receives for its MMC (mid model change) in summer of 2020. There should be an SE (Special Edition) trim. I'd wait.

Has the windshield been replaced? It looks like the windshield was out and they did a poor job replacing the weather stripping when putting it back in.

Property taxes are for real estate and have nothing to do with automobile purchases. Depending on your city/state, automobile purchases trigger sales taxes — and are owed at the time of purchase and paid either upfront or with finance payments.

We have both here in Missouri. You pay personal property on what you own on Jan 1st and then you pay sales tax when you buy a car. I do have $11k in sales tax credit from selling my Mazdaspeed3 and a junky Buick Park Avenue. They give you 180 days to use it or lose it.

I apologize and stand corrected. Never knew owning a car in Missouri was so expensive.

Shopped around local Honda dealerships by emailing on specific 2019 model (Accord Sport 1.5) and color (Modern Metallic Steel) at end of year and one local dealership (5 minutes away) we have bought a few cars from could not do $24K OTD . The best they could do was $25.5K OTD. I went to another dealership 30 minutes away and found what I was looking for and told them the same thing - 24K OTD. In less than an hour they came back and said they would do the deal. Told the other dealership if they could do better or match, I would go with them. They couldn't. Suffice it to say I got the dealership to send a purchase agreement on the agreed upon amount. Car came out to $22,187 and the rest in Tax, Title, Registration, and other stupid NY fees. Probably the easiest car buying I will ever encounter. The funny thing is that I actually paid $50.00 less for the 2019 brand new compared to the 2013 Accord Sport purchased brand new. Tons more features in today's vehicle. Wow!

2020 Accord Sport 2.0T, OTD at $28600. Only extra was the trunk tray, which I told the dealer was mandatory for me. They gave me a "loyalty discount" of about $4500 or so since this is way less than MSRP for bringing my dad and brother in there to buy cars the last few years (dad got a 2017 Fit EX-L and brother got a 2019 Passport EX-L), also was trading in my 2014 Accord EX-L V6 coupe. OTD price is better the value of the trade in. Overall, great deal for me in North Texas!
