This thread will provide updated information about purchasing a Honda Care Warranty for your 2018+ Honda Accord in the USA. Your local dealer may be offering you a Honda Care plan, but at what price?

These three dealers offer the same Honda Care warranty- but at what may be significantly reduced cost from what your local dealer (and their Finance "closer") may offer you. Yes, you can purchase the exact same warranty online. Yes, you can cancel the Honda Care warranty you just purchased from your local dealer if you decide to.

Plan coverage, deductible, length of time, etc. can vary depending on which plan you choose.

As for the epic debate of should you get a warranty on your Honda- that will not be resolved in this thread. Some purchase it for peace of mind, some invest the money they would have used to buy a warranty and reap those rewards, and some only keep their car three years anyway. I will update information here in post #1 regarding how late you can buy a warranty, how late you can "return" or cancel the warranty you just bought (if at a much higher cost), and even post up about rival warranties NOT offered by American Honda.

EDIT August 2018: California and Florida are two states that consider the Honda Care warranty to be a "service contract"- and make it difficult to buy online. However, some members have reported getting the plan from these online dealers while visiting another state, for example. No one has reported having a problem with any FL or CA Honda dealer honoring the Honda Care warranty, even if purchased from any other Honda dealer in the USA- be it online or at a dealership. The Honda Care follows the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), not your state of residence.

Pricing for the D82 plan providing coverage for 8 years/120K w/$0 deductible:

• Online - $1080
• Dealer price range - $1980 - $3500

My excellent dealer resisted $1080 (understandably - it's SO low compared to their pricing). I told them I'd pay $100 over the online price of $1080 just to wrap the purchase and everything into one transaction and he agreed.

And I think everyone knows, no matter how the dealer pitches it, there is no coverage better than Honda Care (not Zurich, not Century, not anybody). Even someone 'matching' the Saccucci or Hyannis online Honda Care price with a no-name warranty is a bad deal.

And yes, the Honda Care sold at those two dealerships online is the exact same Honda Care warranty dealers sell. There's nothing 'better' about buying it from a dealer.

That is how I would have handled it too. I would throw my local dealer the hundred for this just to wrap everything up and be done with it.

Asked for a quote from Saccucci Honda, they replied quickly via email. Had that info when I purchased my 2.0 Touring the last week of Dec.

I offered $100 over the online price for my "warranty of choice" and the dealer didn't go for it. So saved the $100 and purchased online.

I read in an old newspaper article about Saccucci that they sell HondaCare at cost (or even less), because they routinely receive a very sizable incentive payment from Honda for their high volume of HondaCare sales. A run-of-the-mill stealer would never qualify for such a payment. So that could be the difference. I have noted that no stealer (even ones selling HC online) even tries to compete with Hyannis or Saccucci on price, probably because of unavailability of the incentives.

In my experience, Hyannis is always a little bit cheaper than Saccucci and their service is comparable and both are very pleasant to deal with.

In their defense, the Honda Care insurers only warranty Hondas.

I have owned 4 Accords, two Civics, and two CR-Vs. (One Accord and one CR-v at the moment), that makes, what, about 7 or 8 cars? Not a one of 'em has had a thousand bucks in covered repairs. All but the current two had gone over the time/mileage coverage with, IIRC, only one of them potentially being covered. (I forgot when my 81 Civic lost its 3rd gear, but it was already well-worn in time and miles, so it would have been on the cusp.)

One purchases insurance for a loss one cannot sustain, and the insurance company must make its profit. So, if you can cover the potential loss, and mitigate its occurrence, you will likely be ahead of any extended warranty.

I bought Hondacare once for my 05 Ody. The benefit risk ratio is not worth what most dealers charge. The reason we buy Hondas is because they break far less than the average car. I bought my warranty from Alton Blakely Honda in TN for half of what my dealer wanted.

I hear that Roush Honda in Columbus, OH includes Honda Care on all new cars and they don't pad the price. They beat my local dealer's best price.

I was told before 5K miles. FYI I bought mine last year from college hills Honda 120K miles 8 years for $1060 i believe was the price.

As long as you have less than 5K miles on the car it would be consider as a warranty purchase for a new car. Let me know if you want me to PM you the contact info for the dealer.

You can get hondacare anytime before 36000 or 3 years. Might as well wait till then. They offer a discount before 6000 miles but I believe it was only like 100 dollars.
