We did it! On Saturday March 11th, 2023, our 2003 Honda Accord EX V6 6spd (6-6) became the first V6 Honda car or truck to reach one million miles. I drove the car from TX to Gatlinburg, TN to hit the milestone and celebrate with family and friends. @DerekWildstar @stiller fan and @Ash051 brought their Accords and gave me a very special gift to commemorate the occasion.

Here is the video of it as it happens:

We did this in the Smoky Mountains National Park. It was a challenge to set a date and get my miles to the point where I could hit the million with everyone waiting on me.

Here's the group before we headed up to Newfound Gap:

The odometer freezes at all 9s. The trip odometer rolls back over to zeros.

They rolled out the red carpet for the car:

Tim, Josh, and Ash got this picture framed for us. It's a great shot Tim took of the car when we met in NJ last Sept. This is awesome! Thank you all so much!

You can check out my car's thread on here which has all kinds of details about the journey, maintenance, repairs, and mistakes along the way:

Thanks! I've definitely been soaking it in and reflecting over these last few thousand miles. Feels very special.

Congrats! I rolled 200K miles on my 6-6 this year, but thats a ways off of 1000K! Are you tearing down the original engine to see what it looks like?

What's even more special is you've owned it since mile 0, and the engine is the same one that came with the car then.

You have replaced the transmission though, right?
Yeah, transmission replaced at 320k. The replacement tranny had 54k when we installed it. It's still doing ok for me.

@Das Chicken We will. After this engine comes out, we'll at least pop the heads off to have a look up top. Then we'll open it up underneath too. Will probably take one piston out to see the rings. My goal isn't to break it all down to a bunch of parts, but I also want to show what it looks like inside. I'll video it to share with everyone.

@motmot5000 Gatlinburg was a blast. We have family nearby and have been there several times. Such a beautiful area.

@Av6-6 @2007v6vtec thanks!

That car, and that engine, and that driver have earned themselves a rest!

It was fantastic to be able to ride along with you on the rollover. Coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Aside from cylinder #1, you’d be hard-pressed to tell that the car has more than 100,000 miles on it - a testament to one very careful owner. As I said elsewhere, here’s to the next mile… and all the ones after that!!

I sent the million mile update to Honda and The Drive. Included the YT video link, this thread, my car's thread in the photo gallery, and IG reel & post.

No matter what, it's been fun documenting the car's story. I think this is the most documented journey to a million yet. I plan to keep driving and writing about it.

Honda - if you want some feedback on the longevity of that newly redesigned 11th gen, I'd love to help out with an EX-L Hybrid in Canyon River Blue Metallic with black leather interior.

Congrats! This is a sweet and absolutely incredible milestone! I’ve always wondered what the odometer will do next once it reaches 999,999. Now I know! You can now sell your 03 as a new car lol j/k

Just curious, what was Honda’s response to your achievement so far?

@Honda2014 - I've received a couple of personal replies from them. One said they were sharing the info with their different engineering and design teams. Other times, it was more basic.

@Av6-6 - No matter what happens with YT and IG, DA is what I consider "home." I've always tried to point people back to this site. I'm thankful for the help and support I've received from here. Interacting with people here and meeting @DerekWildstar @stiller fan and @Ash051 has been the best part of this experience.

Local news station doing an interview on Thurs morning. I'll add the link when they post it. Seeing articles pop about it. I've been trying so hard to get this car's story out there. Glad to see it happening.
