Hi There,

I am looking to move from the Stock tire size 225/50 to the wider profile of a 255/45.

For now I am keeping my stock 17" rims, Goal is to have a wider profile tire, with close to the same overall diameter. Anyone done this with successful results? Suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your time

Regards, SgtSnafu

Not recommended. Keep it mind the factory wheels are 7.5 wide, and the minimum rim width of a 255 is probably around 8.5.
Thank you Slickj35z, I had noticed the rim size issue, and that is in part my hesitancy. I appreciate your advice, I am now leaning towards purchasing new rims due to the width issue.

Thank you again - I appreciate your time.

You can mount 255/45/17 tires on your stock 17s without any problems. Recommended minimum rim width for 255/45/17 is 8 inches, you have 7.5 inch wheels so it's not a huge difference. People put wider wheels and tires on their car all the time and it's "not recommended". It's a guideline but you won't die if you veer just a hair out of it. I mean if you want the widest contact patch then a 9.5 wide wheel with a 45 offset and a 265 tire is your fix but a 255 tire on your stock rims is a start. O and other accord owners with factory 17s have done this already with no issues. Good luck.
