Are Honda's and Acura more easily broken into?

I had my car 2012 Honda Accord broken into the other night with no signs of entry.

Factory Alarm wasn't tripped nor any indication that it was. Only signs of entry were glove box/center console left open. Auto Lights were turned off I guess to buy them for time. (Something i never turn off)

Thankfully not much besides some spare change taken.

is this a new type of theft on the rise?

Why are car manufactures not doing more to prevent this fro happening?

Here are two threads from different forums that discussed the exact same issue.

None had a concrete answer. Semi plausible theories included the use of a scanner that somehow obtained the frequency of your remote. Another is the possibility that any mechanic who once worked on your car could have stolen the code. But that was quickly dismissed. Why go through that trouble to only take loose change? Others mentioned break-ins in which the battery was disconnected – but how did they open the hood? Slim-Jims would unlock the door but trigger the alarm. There were no good theories. All raised the possibility that the car was unlocked. Who knows? Maybe the $5 contraption referenced in your link is the answer. Scary. Be thankful they only took loose change. It could have been much worse.

Who knows. Crooks/vandals are getting more sophisticated each day along with the technology. Another reason I try to never leave anything in my vehicle that I can't afford to lose or replace.

I remember an older 8th gen thread about trunks being popped open... found out that peeps are not closing their trunk lid all the way til it latches.

I re-adjusted my trunk and hood to close without slamming. I guess it is one of them Honda traits, that I never liked.

Sorry to hear about that. my 2004 civic was broken into twice, the first one they stole my ipod and sunglasses. The worst part was it was trash day and they threw the trash and trash can into the car. The second time they broken my driver side window and the tint held it in place so it didn't trip my upgrade alarm from the first time. They only stole my ipod from my glove box. I think the second one was a ex friend who saw my ipod , it felt like the people knew where to look. After all that, I moved to a better neighborhood. items could be replace but memorizes are forever.
