2013 Honda Accord (ECO MODE SAVE GAS?)

I have a 2013 Accord Sport 6SPD Manual. Honda advertises 34 highway and 26 city. I have been averaging about 30mpg with the ECO Mode turned on. That's a mixture of city and highway and mainly highway.

But damn does the performance **** on ECO Mode, at least for the 6spd manual. It feels like driving an Accord with a Civic engine. Throttle response is just very slow and weak.

I usually turn the ECO mode OFF when I'm driving passengers in my car or when I'm going uphill because it drastically reduces the performance of the car.

I also only put it on ECO mode in the freeway while cruising. The car feels so much more like a Honda with a nice V-Tec engine when the ECO Mode is turned off.

Tested withOUT ECO Mode on and yes, my car does average less MPG's. 28-29mpg's to be exact on a full tank.

I wonder what's it like on the CVT or other people with the 6spd manual? What have you guys been averaging on a full tank of gas with the ECO Mode ON and OFF? Do you notice the performance difference?

Yeah, this has been beaten to death already. I have an EX-L V6 auto, and performance is awful with Eco on. I'm sure MPG would be improved, but it's not worth the sluggishness. I simply never use it. Just drive with Eco off, but drive smart. Don't floor it to red lights, and fly down the highway at 90mph.

When I hit 88 my tire tracks turn into flames and a little voice says to me, "Where we're going we don't need roads."

:)

Plenty of other threads. ECON mode sends less power to A/C, deadens throttle responce, and short shifts to keep fuel consumption to a minimum. To be honest in my V6A, there is absolutely 0 difference between ECON on and off in mpg.

Beat it........beat it.....just beat it...
I just flat out drive my accord I've had it a month and I have never used the eco. It's a four cyclinder car which gets good gas mileage. I might be me I guess because my other cars are faster and heavier 04 Acura TL :) and my very heavy 06 Honda Odyssey Van. But putting it in perspective my 14 Accord gets gas mileage number equal to my sons 06 honda civic. If you really want good gas mileage get a honda fit like my daughter has that things sips gas and has good range for a 10 gallon tank only drawback is the power trade off but that little car is nice in a 5 speed sport model.
I improved my gas mileage by lightening up my car. I got rid of the spare tire and carry around a roll of duct tape. I save 12.5 pounds and if I get a flat, well this works..............

Now thats just funny^^^^...well done :lmao:
^^^^^^^ Too funny.

I've never turned on the Eco mode on my V6 auto! It's obvious what it's going to do to the power output....I want more power not less.
EX-L V6 here and I use Eco for traffic. No need for me to surge to power only to brake a second later, wasting gas in the process. Eco works beautifully in situations like this. Also, it's good for cruise control at freeway during long drives in hilly areas. No need for gas burning surges when the incline hits.
