I have a 2019 Accord Touring Hybrid that I installed a mirror tap onto tonight for my Escort Max II. Using the instructions that came with the mirror tap kit and a multi-meter, it was pretty easy to figure out which wires to use. I failed to take pictures. Will pull the trim piece off tomorrow and take a photo or two, but below I will try to outline how I did this.

First step was to remove the trim piece to access the wiring behind the mirror. Photo attached. Take note, I did not remove the entire piece of plastic, just the smaller piece that is outlined with blue. It comes off very easily with a trim removal tool.

Behind the trim piece are two plugs. I used the plug on the left (on the left side if you are setting in the seats looking out the windshield). There is a there is a black wire and a brown wire. The black wire is a ground wire and the brown wire is a 12v wire that only has power when the ignition is all the way one (engine running/"hybrid ready to drive mode" or wtf ever you want to call it). I think these two wires in this plug for the auto-dimming rearview mirror, NOT THE HOMELINK. I think it's like this because it only has power when the car is powered all the way on, and home link works all the time. The homelink very well may be a part of this plug, it's just not these two wires.

To tap into the wires, I used the MirrorTap kit MTX-1015.

Yes, this kit is $45, but it is worth it in my opinion because this kit comes with interchangeable tap sizes. I had to use the smallest taps to get them to fit into the plug. I used the .040" taps. They fit snuggly, and I didn't have to force them, so it was just right.

It also comes with a small piece of heat-shrink tubing to put over where you plug the taps into the wire itself so once you have the taps you want, you use the heat-shrink tubing and it will hold the tap into the wire for a very long time. Much nicer option than using electrical tape which will fail over time in the heat.
Going to be doing the uniden r3/blendmount/rearview mirror tap soon myself. Did you find that the 15" kit was the right amount of length, or would you have went with the 10" or 20" now that you've done it. Thanks for your write up, helps a bunch!

Also, would you happen to have any pictures now that you have it all setup?

I went with the 15" and it is fine. A 10" may work, but it may be too short. I was able to do a single loop with the 15" cable and it is concealed very well.

Unfortunately, the dealer has my car due to an issue with the accessory grill they installed and I'm not sure when I'll get it back. With that said, I don't know that additional pictures would add that much value. If you have a multi-meter, you'll be able to figure it out.
Ok cool thank you for the input!

As for the pictures, I'm not too concerned with hooking it all up, was more interested in seeing how it all looked once it was done lol. Thank you though!

Meant to post sooner, but I was able to get it installed 2nd time around. Had to put the ground cable in sideways i order for it to fit. Love how it all looks. My setup is a Uniden r3 with a blendmount and a mirror tap.
